This is the Catch 22. You can’t put aside this fact. The Tax Liability for FREE college would be astronomical. Think Health Care. When 10 to 15 percent of the population received FREE Health Care did Cost go down. NO. This is another Liberal Fantasy.

By the way we also have 125+ Trillion in unfunded Liability as a Country and our National Debt is 20 TRILLION and climbing.

Tracking is the magic bullet to fix shitty school systems, overworked teachers, and dangerous learning environments.

If Timmy isn't reading on grade level in 5th grade, we don't need to spend another 7 years preparing him to write 50 page essays on Herodotus. We're gonna take 5 years to teach him about careers he could actually succeed in - get him out of the classroom and into the open air of the real world. And if he's a behavioral problem or doesn't want to be in school at 16, his arse is done and he can work at McDonald's until he desires more for himself.

I believe the growing pool of college educated young people, with poor career opportunities has contributed to the frustration that you see from the left.

This isn't remotely true. "Free college" means subsidies for community college for qualified applicants (minimum GPA and test scores, have to carry a minimum GPA to continue receiving funds). Bernie's projection is $47B/yr, so even a round up to $100B/yr isn't a catastrophe if it produces long-term economic gains for students.

That being said, I still think it's a bad idea on a federal level. TN has done it on a state level without exploding the state budget.

1) I am all for more Pell Grants
2) Never Believe the Projection of A Politician. Bernie has stated that all two year colleges should be free. No real GPA needed.
3)Colleges are getting more expensive not less.
4)As you said anytime the Gubment gets involved it’s a Dumpster Fire.
5)We can’t afford it. What do you cut out of the Budget?

Amen, not everyone is college material.Business degrees were worthless when they told us all to send our kids to college to get them.

This country needs builders. There is plenty of money in it and too few qualified to do it.

No one wants to learn the math or get dirty.

This country is soft.

I have always preferred the humanities, the exact and natural sciences were difficult for me. The school system oppressed me. I loved reading a lot of novels and poetry, now I have a dream to write a story, but I am not a professional and I ask for help to the service Paidpaper.net I hope my school dream will come true in the near future.
