re: Do Dodge Rams have the same kind of longevity as Chevys/Fords?

2014 Ram 1500 Hemi Big horn here. 115k miles. Have not had ONE problem with it. Not one. (knock on wood).
Interested to see how their new diesel turns out next year.

I’ve got a ‘16 4x4 with 31k, let you know in about 10 years. Been a Chevy only guy since my first one in ‘88 and won’t hesitate to go back if this one doesn’t cut the cheese. Like the truck a lot so far tho

I've had all three 1/2 ton pick ups, dodge, chevy and ford over the last 2 plus decades going back to 1996 or so.
Dodge is mechanically superior as far as engine, drive train, etc., but the interior is shite. Ripped seats, cracked dash, door panels break loose.
Chevy has a nice interior. However, it had many small but the kind that add up mechanical problems.
Ford seems to be the best mix of both, but excels in neither. Mechanically sound, interior good.
I'm on my 2nd ford in a row now. Both V8's... None of that V6 or ecoboost hipster bull shite.

Not a lot of love for Tundra on this thread. I know I love mine.

The Ram's of today have the nicest interior in that class. I was skeptical because if the 80's and 90's. My ram is the smoothest driving 1/2 ton I have had. I would not hesitate to get another one at this time.

I've got a 2005 Dodge 3500 with a 5.9 and 6 speed rowing stick in the floor with a Southbend clutch in it.
She's about to roll over to 470,000 miles and pretty much keeps a load behind her and always has from day one.
As someone said before, at least with the older dodges, it IS a dodge interior...
There's a reason why the majority of hotshot guys drive manual dodges and, especially, are always looking for a serviceable 5.9 with a manual trans, but even then I notice they still gravitate towards Dodge/Cummins when buying new trucks.
I've owned multiple toyotas (still have a taco) and I like them too, but when it comes time for heavy lifting I'm a 5.9 man.

Crew cab? 4x4? SLT or Laramie? Options? What the book says?

2wd, crew cab, SLT, not sure on options. Will update when I get home

I paid 28 a year ago for a ‘16 Crew 4x4 with 20k miles and everything but leather a year ago. Sounds high to me. That’s a quad not a crew cab

Hmmm. I was thinking if I could get them to 19 it would be a good deal. More miles than I want, but it’s tough to be picky at my price point. It’s less than recommended on BB and nada

A couple of thoughts.
Why would a Audi dealer be selling a Ram pick up. I doubt that they traded for it. So they probably bought it at auction. NOBODY sells a good pickup at auction. You sell it retail, as a dealer or a individual.
Second, I don't see a link for a Car Fax report. Today all reputable dealers have Car Fax reports on the pre owned inventory and if they are not certain the report shows a good clean vehicle they usually wholesale it.
So be careful what you wish for.

May be a good deal. Shopping around will tell you that part.

Good thoughts. I just asked for a carfax from them

Very interested in hearing about the longevity, I rented a big horn classic hemi 1500 in Midland and a few weeks back and was very impressed with the ride and loved, loved the hemi!

I have a 2010 1500 big horn with 170,000 miles. I've only done regular maintenance, no issues whatsoever. Will definitely buy another when that time comes.
