One of the best experiences you will have at a "festival". Especially if the weather holds up. Friday night is utter debauchery in a good way. Saturday great for the whole family. Food is good and a very under-rated music line up. They go out of their way to sign up under the radar talent. Look at the past line ups, especially the non headliners: LINK

One of my favorite events out there. Keeping an eye on the weather for Saturday but planning to be there.

It is a great festival and a lot of fun, but this doesn’t hold up anymore. The crazy Friday night stuff has given way a little bit each year as it has become much more of a two day festival especially with so many teams serving on Friday now.

I’m on a team, but I’ve never been. Friday night a must? Son’s got a soccer tournament in NOLA this weekend, not sure how it’ll work out. Guess I can take Sunday duty.

Was on a team for 3 years. Then was told how much the guys who put it on pay themselves. Discouraging to work that hard and see that.

Friday night wilder than its ever been. You must go home after the last act on stage finishes. The night has just begun then...

Unless something has changed this is accurate. You can validate via their 990's.

t00f gives no frick though and goes anyway.

They get money via multiple avenues outside of direct salary also and it can be deflating to see that with how much work everyone puts in to raise money for kids, but they built this thing from the ground up and without their work it would not happen. It takes tremendous effrot and planning to put this thing on. It still makes a bunch of money for kids.

I think the bigger issue than the salary is that there will always be tension with the spending/raising ratio with the huge costs to put on the music side of the festival versus the low costs and huge donations from the BBQ competition.

Do you mean your team leader or the organizers?

No it is not. You must be a recent addition to Hogs if you think this is wilder than back at the original City Park location before they started selling tickets to Friday night. Pigslayer doesn't do their late night hijinks anymore. Deuce Pigalow got shut down at like 12:00 by the Cops two years ago and that team has gone through some reorganization. The only thing really going by 2:30-3:00 last year was the 3 story build with a handful of drunk old folks dancing.

I'd imagine that running a festival that attracts 30k people and raises $1MM for charity is hard work? Nah?

Apparently built up from a pig and a keg 10 years ago.

Seems like a pretty cool success story.

Yeah I would for sure think it's a lot of work.
Great story for a great cause.

You think all the money that is brought in goes to charity? You understand the event has expenses.

Just curious, how much do you think the people who organize it should get paid?

Are you familiar with how non-profits work? Compensation for officers?
