Royal Caribbean - Enchantment of the Seas

My cruise experience consists of 4 Carnival Cruises (Elation x2, Triumph, and Sensation), and 1 Disney (Wonder).
We have a fall trip booked on Carnival Valor.
One of our Texas friends is considering going on RC Enchantment of the Seas this summer and has invited the Mrs and I to consider going with her and her sister.
I've never been on this cruise line, nor do I know much of anything about this boat.
Anyone can give me some good ideas about what Royal Caribbean cruises are like, compared to Carnival or Disney?
The ports are Cozumel and Progesso, I believe. Which are the same ones we will be hitting in the fall.
It's a bit more expensive than Carnival for a 5 night, but not terribly much more.
What's the onboard experience like, dining, bars, etc?

RC falls between Carnival and Disney.

Carnival has better food than RCI. If you are a big drinker RCI's unlimited drink package has no maximum # of drinks like Carnival (15/day). Finding late night food is much easier on Carnival. I don't care about the 'shows' so I couldn't tell you which one is better. I find that Carnival is better for the $ than RCI. However, on a 5 night cruise you might find a lower tier of passengers than you would on an RCI due to the price. I have been on both lines several times and would not pay the extra for RCI. 15 years ago, yes, now there is not much of a difference.
Oh, and the pizza is great on Carnival, it's barely edible on RCI.

I know what I'm getting with Carnival. Have they gotten better over the years, or has RCI gone down?

Interesting because while I don't think the food on Carnival is bad, it's certainly average. I did notice looking at the Enchantment ship information that there seems to be fewer food options compared to a similar size Carnival boat, which I thought was interesting. I would have expected more, not less.

I have been on 11 cruises. 6 were on Carnival ships and 5 on RCCL. I only cruise on Royal Caribbean now. Better clientele. Higher class ship. Carnival is neon and loud patterns. Royal is brass, glass and marble. We are not party animals though. More civilized in Royal. Just all depends on what you’re looking for.

Thanks. We went ahead and booked it. Looking forward to it. We like to have a good time but the idea of getting drunk all day every day for 5 days is kind of in our past. We will have a couple of drinks a day and just enjoy the activities.

We are trying to decide between an oceanview room on
RCI Enchantment out of Galveston or
an extended view balcony on Carnival Valor out of NOLA
the drive would be closer to NOLA and we'd have more space on Valor and it is cheaper for the same amount of nights
Is RCI really worth the extra cost and drive?
Thanks

We are doing RCI July 3-8 so i'll let you know!
We just wanted to do something different because we have sailed Carnival out of NOLA three times. I know what that is like.

I read you all saying the Disney boats have the best clientele but the one that was in port last week was about as bad as any crowd off any boat. I really don’t know where they find these people.

I'm doing Royal Caribbean in September for 3 days out of Orlando. Never done it before but I have done Carnival twice. Looking forward to it. Wanted to do something different, but I hear Royal Caribbean is better anyway.
