Remember those few years when the NCAA called the “first four” the 1st round?

That made the actual first round on Thursday and Friday the 2nd Round. That meant if you lost your first game you still make the 2nd Round.

That was a load of bullshite. Thank God they changed to calling it the “First Four” and the actual 1st Round the “1st Round”.

First Four is still kind of dumb. They should call it the Opening Round.

I don’t understand why the first four isn’t the 16 seeds. Why are teams at the 11 seed playing to get in?

I liked it when they called it the play in games myself. It is what it really is.

I liked it best when there were 65 teams with 1 Open Round game. Usually had a SWAC school in it.

Gave you one game on Tuesday night and that’s it. Just a taste of the MADNESSSSSSSS.

They should get rid of it entirely

I like the play in games, and I bet the teams like them too.

Belmont won an NCAA tournament game last night. They likely never would've had that opportunity under the regular format.

The reason they have the play in games is because of additional conferences being added, like when the Big East and the AAC split. They didn't want to decrease the amount of at-large bids, but they had to add automatic bids. This was the solution.

So that then we can have an opening round AND a first round, as in two separate things. And you are calling the old format retarded?
