Good race.
Would like the race director to show a bit more mid field battles myself. Looking on the screen Ric was .5 second down in the last four laps. They were showing Hamilton as he already passed. Granted they did show Ferrari but the mid field battle is good and I think they could market it a bit better.

Probably my favorite track on the calendar. Worth waiting for.

Coverage moved from RIC and MAG as HAM worked to overtake VER. Did RIC give up on passing MAG or Kevin never allowed him an open spot?
I assume Bottas’ car would have not been lapped if not for the early pit. And possibly the same with the other Red Bull car if not for Gasly’s underwhelming driving. So what in the hell happened this weekend to Ferrari to make them look like a midfield team?

They just aren't good on high downforce tracks.
It's kind of weird actually. It's a complete flip flop from a couple of years ago. Mercedes had the power and Ferrari had the handling. Now it's the other way around.

If Red Bull had someone better than Gasly Ferrari might be a distant 3rd thus year.

That and if Red Bull has a better driver then Hamilton wouldn’t have been able to pit because then he’d have to pass two cars.

Not F1 related but McLaren will run a full season in Indy next year.
Will field two cars and be powered by Chevy engines.

Gasly out, Albon in.

Interesting. Some thought it would be Kvyat.

I'm glad Red Bull pulled the trigger. Gasly had 12 races to settle in and start showing results. No one expected him to challenge Verstappen, just to get closer to the potential of the car.
Now Albon has 9 races to do the same. That's plenty. I didn't get much of an impression of him at Toro Rosso. Wasn't paying attention.
Gasly now has 9 races to resurrect his career. It will be interesting to see if he's immediately more comfortable with the Toro Rosso car.
Doesn't this mean Kvyat's career is toast? He had one chance, and now Red Bull has declined to give him another. If Albon doesn't work out, would Red Bull consider Kvyat for next year? Maybe if he shows strong results in the last 9 races. The pressure is on for all three of these guys.

Doesn't look like RB believes in second chances. And they seem to love giving the youngest brightest talent a chance.

Maybe they're letting Albon show what he can do for the remainder of the year as a tryout for next year. Then if he doesn't impress they can move Kvyat back up next season.
I never was a Kvyat fan when he was at RBR before and even less when he got demoted. But everybody loves a comeback so I'm kind of pulling for him now.

VER scared. KVT fricked.
RBR was going to make a move and Verstappen wanted the least challenge possible.
Maybe KVT makes a jump to another team next year. Will never get a chance at a real drive again. Deserves one.

It also makes me wonder if this means that Verstappen is going to move to MBPetronas after this season to finally pair Hamilton up.

I saw this morning where Bottas is being retained for 2020 and Ocon will replace Hulkenberg at Renault.

Hulk to Haas then would be my guess.

Here's the link to the article, but that's what they speculate, that Hulkenberg may replace Grosjean for 2020.

They can't get rid of Grosjean fast enough.
But I'd rather see a new young gun instead of an old retread like Hulkenberg in that seat.

Most of the dominoes have fallen then it seems like. Is there only one more seat open (Kubica at Williams)? I wonder if they'll pick up Grojean. I was sort of expecting them to replace Kubica with Ocon.
In any case, I'm glad that Ocon has a ride. He deserves to be in F1. I'm waiting for the day that daddy Stroll fires his son from Racing Point.
