I want to get a new machine for this upcoming hunting season. I would only be using it to get to and from pit blinds. I was wondering what you baws recommend...

If you aren't worried about power or speed, I'm loving my new little 500 pioneer. Has a few kinks you have to fix when you get it... But i like it.

If you need to carry more than two people, a Viking.

If you need to carry more than 3, the new mule fxts are good.

Polaris is gonna have the best ride and power, at the expense of more than average maintenance. I prefer the 900 motor to the 1000. Which is odd, given I have the 1000 in the general and it has been flawless

Basically, how much weight are you hauling, how many people are you hauling, and what's the terrain?

I had a mule before the Polaris. It was a quality machine but after if went 6 feet under for 3 days I sold it and bought the Polaris.

I had shotgun in my head and was very confused by this post when I first read it. I blame living in the concrete jungle for too long

Very happy with Yamaha Viking. I researched and vetted for months before settling on the Viking. The biggest push toward the Viking came from my cousin who is a licensed Honda mechanic but works on all the other makes as well. He recommended Yamaha over anything else. His biggest issue with the new Honda machines is that (his hands-on observation, not my opinion) the newer machines haven't improved quality in areas where they fell short in the past, whereas Yamaha and Polaris he says are constantly improving.

Tifwiw.

Mine is the Viking VI Ranch Edition and it's no speed demon but it's bulletproof, strong and a trail running workhorse. It seats 6 and is by far the most comfortable riding S×S I have ever been in.

I have a 2016 Honda Pioneer 700 4 seater and love it. Never had any issues with it and it's a workhorse.

I have a 700 Pioneer (2 seater) and love it. Dump Bed and you can get 3 people in the front if one of them is a narrow arse, or a kid. I like how quiet it is as opposed to other SxS on the market. Been a stud, work-horse and have been very pleased.

I know the 1000's have had several issues with their tranny, but most everyone I have heard from/dealt with/talked to, it was the 4 seater 1000 that had the problems.

Polaris is probably going to be your most popular choice, but I use mine a lot at the hunting camp for work (pulling a trailer) hauling firewood back to our camp, hauling tools/accessories to work sites on the camp, etc. I liked the idea of a transmission as opposed to a belt drive system.

I'm on year 3 of my Kawasaki Teryx. It's been a beast with zero issues so far. Only knock is it doesn't have much of a bed.

I'm on year 12 of my Rhino. It's beat to hell and back but keeps on trucking.

The majority about anywhere are gonna say Polaris Ranger, and likely would be fine for you.

Couldn't bring myself to buy anything Polaris after growing up Honda. Bought Pioneer 700 last April, now one duck season in using it just the OP is describing as well as around the house, very pleased. Looks like a couple others on here have one as well and like it for same reasons. Just my preference, I think you'll likely be pleased with Po Ranger or Yamaha.

The Honda SxS's appear to be gaining ground in the market after largely failing with their initial offering, the Big Red SxS. I'm seeing more and more of them on trailers headed to and from camps during the season
