Anyone try this one? I got a deal I could not refuse along with the first buyer discount. 3 meals, for 4 people. I have never subscribed to this type of service before.

Wife and I are trying SunBasket for three meals a week right now. Portion size for two people is just right for us.
Doubt we'll continue it for too much longer though. The recipes and meals are excellent, but nothing we can't cook ourselves. The main thing is you save quite a bit of time on prep work. Quality of ingredients has been excellent.

Here are some of the ingredients I did not pull out the proteins.

... and why can you not buy these ingredients from a local grocery store with a recipe from a cookbook on a food of choice you feel like eating? Not sure if I understand this concept and who it is specifically catering too.

I got this since I got discounts and the whole thing was $40 with shipping. Figured what the hell.

I agree, NOLATiger71. A (very busy professional) friend in DC used BlueApron, and I teased about it. As revenge, she sent me a free week. So I tried it. Big fat meh, from my perspective. Overly cheffy, restaurantish meals (too many garnishes, too many steps) with poorly written recipe cards. Many wasteful, silly steps--I wanted to re-write every single recipe card in my box.
I think it's a fine enough idea for the very beginning cook who lacks confidence, the support of an experienced cook on the phone/via Facetime, or perhaps as a benefit to the person who is housebound and cannot get to a store.
It's a nightmare of non-biodegradable packaging.
It's a time-waster, as you cook each meal individually, with no eye for leftovers that can be repurposed as lunches or components of meals later in the week.

I got 3 meals for 4 people. There will be leftovers going in the freezer. I was excited about the box since it came insulated as I can send beer out in it. The cold bags are reusable and already in the freezer.
That said this was an experiment. Going to cook some of this today.

We did Blue Apron for about 4-5 weeks a couple years ago (before our 2nd son was born). Most of the recipes were pretty good. A couple were meh. We were just tired of eating the same stuff. So we figured this would save us some time, and maybe save some money on groceries. After about 3 weeks, it just seemed like we were cooking all the time, and we never made it to the later week meals (friday) because we like to eat out then. We ended up cancelling.
We did save a few recipe cards for the meals we liked so we can always recreate them if we run out of ideas.

We did HomeChef for years. There was never leftovers. It was literally enough for 2 servings. We enjoyed it, but it can still be a pretty decent amount of prep work and cook time. What ultimately ended our run with it was we were getting kinda busy and the meals were stacking up and some were ultimately getting thrown away. We will probably get back to it some day.

How many portions do you order to feed the whole family? Have you tried the breakfast?

Working at the home office and decided to tackle the steak pizza.
Chopped the onions, but the steak was already cut and in sealed packages which was great. The packaging the ingredients came in was all thrown out in one of the external bags so removal was easy. I did not use the ranch yet, or the arugula.
This was easy and fun.

Its convenient and something different.
You definitely can buy your own groceries and pay less. Also the proteins aren't very big.
It's a good change of pace, not much more than that.

What meal delivery service do any of you all use for meals that are ready to just be heated up when you get the delivery? I didn’t want all the work of the Blue Apron stuff.

I personally have not used any premade dinners delivery that you just warm up.
I do go to places like Francesca in lakeview and pick up premade dinners, sometimes.

That's not a bad idea. I pick up sometimes from SWEGS on the east end of Veterans. I'm just so busy that I don't have time to lay out a menu and cook for the week and I want to get some healthy meals set up.
If not, I usually end up at a bar and grill eating there or picking up garbage.

When you walk in all their premade meals are on the right in the cooler. SWEGS is another one!

We did Blue Apron for about 6 weeks. Mixed reviews in our family. Some things felt like they required more prep than one would want to put on themselves nightly

I don't mind the prep, I find it relaxing. It's nice to have everything portioned out.

Those naan pizzas are a go to for me when I have no plans for a meal. They are quick and easy. Wally world sells the garlic flavored naan flat breads. Just add pasta sauce, toppings, and cheese and throw it in the toaster oven.
