Doctors of OT: I had a seizure last week for the first time of my life

Yes, I also posted this on the OT but I'm hoping for some genuine feedback from somewhere.
I'm 29, 6'3", 200 lbs. I run and work out virtually every day, and the day's I don't I'm at work all day.
I do acknowledge that I miss meals frequently and sometimes don't hydrate as well as I should given my activity level but I've never encountered this before.
It happened at work but I denied going to the hospital because when I came to I was embarrassed and in shock, my employer was less then enthused that I declined to go to the hospital.
Is it likely this is a case of simply not eating, being dehydrated, lacking sleep, etc?

Go to the doctor dude. Also your workout habits have nothing to do with much. There are marathon and ultra runners with type 2 diabetes or who just drop dead out of nowhere at a very young age.
Just think, what if you have another on the way to work and swerve off and kill somebody while driving. Sure that is an off the wall scenario but it's also about your health. Really want to have a seizure while alone and fall busting your head and just be stuck there?
Second edit: I don't know who made a worse decision here, you not going or your employer not making you go or leave their property. Hope you are okay though.

It’s very possible. All of those things stress your body hard. However, it could be something very serious. Go to the doctor!

Dude. Get to the doctor. It has to be scary, but you gotta go see what the hell happened. For your safety and for the safety of those around you

Lady I work with had a few seizures at work. Turned out to be MS.

Hmmmmm, do you have family history? Were you possibly dehydrated? Easy to convulse if sodium is low. You need a check up. Can you describe the seizure?
In b4 keto cures seizures! It really does though....

I would be scared and my gut would be to avoid finding out.
It may be nothing. But you need to figure it out

OP did you actually have a seizure or did you just pass out? Did you piss on yourself or bite your tongue? Just shaking a little while passed out doesn’t necessarily mean you had a seizure
ETA: there’s different types of seizures though. Can you give us details of what coworkers may have told you that you did?

Meh, if he just passed out he doesn’t necessarily have to go straight to a doctor. I deal with seizures all the time (medic) and people passing out. People always think someone who just fainted had a seizure.

If he’s relatively healthy and passing out he stlll needs to see a doctor. What kind of medic says they shouldn’t? Jeeze.

If I was the one there of course I’d tell him he needs to go. I’m not meaning to come across like he shouldn’t go to a dr, just curious what his coworkers said he did. People pass out all the time and are fine, especially if you skip meals and are dehydrated. College kids are the worse, we deal with them all the damn time passing out at events or whatever.

Well yeah, if he was out at an outdoor summer festival or even at the gym and is admittedly not hydrating properly.
But randomly at work? Even if it’s something as simple as dehydration he still needs to go to the doc to ensure there’s not an underlying cause. Healthy people typically don’t randomly pass out at work.

I agree, but I was more concerned if it was truly a seizure or just him passing out. If OP is concerned than he should go see a doctor as already mentioned. I don’t think he needs to rush to the ER right this second but make an appointment and see a GP. And people refuse ambulance transports all the time for passing out. That’s not something out of the ordinary, of course we always advise against refusing care.

Please see a doctor. Did anyone clarify if it was an actual seizure or just a Vaso-vagal/orthostasis type of event? Did someone at least take your BP and blood glucose at that time? Would recommend checking bloodwork (BMP), orthostatic BP/HR, and a CT of the head. Maybe an EEG if everything else is negative.
How would you feel if you ignored this and it happened again while driving, and you plowed into some innocent kids?

Had my first day around them today, they said I was really pale, made a sound of some short then went straight down and was convulsing for around two minutes. Co-workers that have seen seizures said it was serious but they've seen worse. They said it sounded briefly like I was snoring but it was more likely me choking on my spit before they turned me on my side and braced my head. I slowly came to and it was a bit before I was aware, like a concussion, which I've had at least 2 of in the past.

My buddy I was hunting with kept falling down all the time in the trip. His face would just go blank and he would fall down while staring at me.
I made him go to the doctor and they determined he has Lou Gehrig’s disease. Can hardly walk now and this all happened in October.
Go to the doctor, now.
