Do you think Roman Reigns' cancer diagnosis was a work?

Lots of wrestling fans out there are floating a conspiracy theory that Roman Reigns' leukemia diagnosis and battle was a work in order to get him over and cheered by the crowd, because he had been pushed as the next chosen one to succeed Cena by WWE but instead was getting booed everywhere he went.

It's a vocal minority for sure but most wrestling fans seemed to be insulted and outraged at someone for even making such a suggestion.

I think it's something that sounds good on paper, but when you look at it from WWE's perspective, a publicly traded company worth an insane amount, with a shite ton of employees with no reason to stay silent, nah.

It looks like it could only end badly for WWE and Roman to push that as a work.

I know that WWE is scripted, but that would be pretty shitty of them to use a cancer diagnosis as a storyline.

Why would it be? There's 0 competition and they're a publicly traded company who values their licensing deal with the largest toy maker in the world.
Of course there are people who still believe that Austin caused Owen's fall to get revenge for his neck being broken.

They have become a very conservative company due to no viable competition. There is no way they would do something like that.

Yes, I have thought that. It wouldn’t surprise me at all.

No way. I dont think they are "above that" from a moral perspective, but they do a TON of work with Make A Wish and cancer kids to help their public image. Doing a work about someone having cancer would shite all over that. It's bad business.

The internet wrestling community is absolutely the most pathetic group of people I’ve ever heard. I’m convinced it’s a bunch of neckbeards wearing fedoras that do nothing but watch Attitude era reruns on YouTube.

The comments i read on RAW recaps are nothing but the same thing over and over again.

“I’m never watching WWE. It’s ruined. The product is stale and terrible. I’m a grown arse man and the should write for me. The writers are terrible. God I can’t stand to watch this shite anymore!”

The following weeks RAW...

Same comments and vowing to never watch again...

Guess who’s been watching every week and will never stop watching but just wants to tell everyone they’re enraged online and they’re never watching again over and over.

They’re the equivalent to “can I speak to the manager?” Women.

I don't think it was but I'm definitely not excited for him to be pushed out of this world again. He'll be the champ again by June

I don't think it's a work, but I definitely think WWE exaggerated the severity of it, and then capitalized on it and marketed it. He's had leukemia for years, yet now all of a sudden it "flared up" and then went back in remission just in time for WrestleMania? I don't buy it. Vince resorted to playing the sympathy card, and it worked. I lol @ all those who say WWE would never do such a thing

It’s possible. I usually assume everything in wrestling is a work. Even the Montreal screw job.

Maybe 30 years ago you could pull off faking a major illness. Not today.

Honestly I feel it could be but I don't think they would be that stupid. It's too public of an organization for that now. Maybe in the 90s that could be pulled off. The backlash wouldn't be worth the face push for him. So I have to think it wasn't a work for that reason.
