I was walking through Sherburn on a small ridge with water on both sides. I had my eyes fixed on the ridge in front of me and never seen the snake until my fiancé behind me started freaking out. Turns out I had stepped on the snake and when she screamed I turned to run to her and ended up stepping on it again. Luckily I wasn't bitten. The snake died of an unknown cause.

Are those Chippewas waterproof? been thinking about getting a pair

you wouldn't want to wade in them, but they'll keep the rain or wet grass from soaking your feet

I've had two encounters while turkey hunting that stand out. Once two of us sat down by a tree and a rattler let loose with his tail in the dark (skid marks)

second time I was calling and was seated in some thick grass, felt something on my lap, was a black racer crossing my leg (skid marks)
