What do you think? Looking to add to my grill collection. I know the PK is used by many in the steak competitions.

LOVE IT! I have the one my dad bought years ago. The only thing you might have to replace are the grates. Love mine for doing steaks, chicken wings, etc. I have the older one, and I added a thermometer to it, but once you use it for awhile you will learn temps etc.

I pulled a Portable Kitchen out of somebody's trash because I couldn't believe it was being discarded. It had a hornets nest, so I guess that's why it was trashed.

These are perfect for South Louisiana because the cast aluminum won't corrode. You will have to replace the grates just like any grill, because they are steel.

I have had it for about 40 years. My bud's dad had one from about 1960 and my bud still uses it today.

The only downside is they cost more than $300 new for a pretty small grill.

I've got one and it's a steak cooking machine. I added some grill grates and made it even better.

I love mine. It really locks in the heat. I also bought the stainless grates for mine.

i bought a houseboat some years ago and it came with one. built a stand for it and its what i use at home now. awesome grill. supposedly mine is from the 50s. we cooked at a bbq contest one time and brought the grill just for cooking up some snacks and stuff and you wouldn't believe the attention it got from the competition cooking folks

Unless you’re cooking for a big crowd it would be the last grill you would need to buy.
For steaks, burgers or wings it can’t be beat.

I love my PK, had it passed down to me a couple of years ago. I think it was purchased in the 60's, and has been passed around a few times. I grill pretty much anything on it, but really like it for ribs.

My Dad had one when I was a kid and we used it until I went to college. The grates rusted out (no replacements available) and he gave it away. I was going to purchase a ceramic but the pricing caused me to look further. Unbeknownst to me, PK had resumed production. We now have 3 in the family. GREAT product! Probably the last frill you will ever purchase! The only grill you will need unless you're cooking for a crowd or insist on cooking large briskets. Plenty of grill for most. I am a SCA judge...it is the preferred grill for SCA competition. My only criticisms after hundreds of cooks...I wish the cart was a little taller and that they would offer a larger dome (top half) for beer butt chickens.

By the number of responses it looks like we need to do a TD PK Grill cook-off!

There are plenty of grates available now. I actually have an adjustable grate on mine now. I did trim it a little to make it fit perfectly.

I wonder how much you'd get for the aluminum as scrap. People get a penny a can for soda cans.

I actually purchased an extra set of grates expecting mine to rust out long before now...I guess I use it often enough to keep a coating of grease on them preventing rust/replacement!
