We catch most the parades on Magazine in front of a friends house. If they start on napoleon we are usually on Prytania and Napoleon.

But after tonight, the ladders can probably stay non-stop until Tuesday afternoon, and not break the law.
Yeah that's my line of thinking.

I hate the ladders but probably for different reasons than you—3 years ago Magazine st was a great place to enjoy Mardi Gras with the family. Now it’s being taken over by Ronnie and Candy’s of the world who are avoiding St. Charles due to ladders.
I actually asked a couple of people this week about Magazine - because I'm f'n done with Napoleon and St Charles because of the ladders and the hogging - and they all said Magazine has turned into a crush of people the last couple of years, and the ladders and hogging are starting there too.

We have a close friend with a house on Magazine and people usually don’t camp out there. I would try around Henry’s or La Bon Temps if I were you.

I stand by my kids ladder about 15 feet off the street though......
That pic is ridiculous The entire point of the ladder is to lock your kid in there and not have to be around the crowd

This might be the only thing, out of 100, that the mayor has gotten correct, but good for her.
except she didn't get it correct. her actual twitter quaote was "Ladders should not be left on the neutral ground or sidewalks overnight. All left will be destroyed!"
there is a 24 hour rule so technically after tonight they can stay up overnight until Fat Tuesday. Assuming they are not too close to the curb or blocking an intersection.

Yeah some people are out of control with it and they say something similar every year. I think it’s more of a scare tactic so people don’t leave a ladder out there for s whole week.

While my opinion is not fully formed on her, when there is a big incident like the shooting downtown a few weeks ago or the thing in the quarter the other night she does show up to support the police.
You don't hear the anti-police talk from her like you hear from some other black politicians.
I still believe she didn't want Harrison, and her attempt to hire Compass as his boss was almost unforgivable. But... Ferguson seems like a great person for the job, she seems to completely support him. We shall see.

That pic is 100 percent the problem. Ladders, on the curb, completely together forming a wall.
A ladder here and there, 6 feet back, is perfectly fine.

Have you ever seen someone you would want to associate with use one of those ladders for beads?

The 2nd weekend?
Two years ago, we drove up at 8 pm on Saturday and found one spot - about 15 ft x 10 ft - on the back of the neutral ground, and that was the ONLY uncovered spot between Magazine and St. Charles on the neutral ground.
Last year I left town =)

Probably was taken this weekend. I about 100% sure there wasn't a parade when I went down St Charles earlier.

This is a great area for parades. We stand in front of Xavier Prep....um....St. Katharine Drexel Prep. Two deep at most on Friday night for Krewe d'Etat the last three or four years. We walked the parade last year, but had gone there prior years. Prep. has portable toilets, they charge for, but it is a reasonable price and they keep everything clean.
There are a few ladders spread intermittently down that entire stretch of Magazine Street, but nowhere is it a crush of people or ladders except maybe a couple of the intersections. There are certainly no phalanxes of ladders touching for blocks on end like on the Avenue or Napoleon.
