Is Bethesda capable of producing a new Elder Scrolls game that doesn't suck?

Given the polarizing opinions people had regarding Fallout 4, the paid-for-mods with the Bethesda Creation club, refusal to abandon their age-old game engine, not selling their new games on Steam, and the disaster that is/was Fallout 76, I feel that Bethesda is starting to resemble EA/Activision.
How much faith does the gaming community have that Bethesda will be able to produce an Elder Scrolls game that matches the standard set by earlier games in the franchise?

yes

I'm a big fan of 4, but one thing I hope they go away from in the next main game is a speaking protagonist. People gave the dialog a lot of shite, but I maintain that if they had just typed out the same speech options as with earlier games, no one would have had a problem with it.
And if you think 4 doesn't look any better, start up 3 and NV and get back with me.

not the only ones, and they end up there eventually

Hardly, but they made grave mistakes with 76 (the Austin studio doesn't need to touch Fallout anymore) and I think are relying on the cute "we hear our games are buggy, oh no" goodwill a little too much.
An online MP experience was out of their wheelhouse and it showed. I doubt 76 can really be fixed, but we'll see.
Elder Scrolls will be fine. That series is the genisis of what Bethesda became and they'll make a quality, yet buggy, experience. I don't doubt it.

As much as I enjoy 76, even with all the bullshite, I think it was a huge wake-up call for Bethesda not to test it's fan-base.
At least they're taking notes and criticism. I think they learned their lesson and won't allow the next ES to be a disappointment.

I haven't played Fallout 76, but to me, it seems like I would take more issue with poor optimization and lack of content than bugs.
Having played Skyrim/Oblivion/Fallout 3, I cannot really think of a time where I encountered a major bug that really sucked the enjoyment out of my experience.

It's funny that these are my biggest complaints about 76, even with other stuff being way more messed up. It's a Bethesda game so I was prepared for ridiculous bugs.
I mean, come on, 4 came out in 2015 and the graphics and frame rates are basically the same in 2019?

It's basically the MP they had originally planned for 4, stripped out and made it's own release.
It looks more polished and crisp compared to 4 IMO. But I didn't play it long at all.

the paid-for-mods with the Bethesda Creation club,
I still play fo4 and I’ve never purchased anything from CC, I only get the free stuff when available.
As far as Elderscrolls, I liked all of them and I’m looking forward to the next installment. I think they learned from fo76’s disappointment and I don’t think they’ll frick around with Elderscrolls, because that game is their bread and butter. At least I hope they don’t screw it up.

Man i dunno but i couldnt get into the last ESO online. Loved skyrim and oblivion.

MMO's are a different beast than your typical RPG. But even ESO is doing really well and they are releasing a new expansion this year, I believe. Their 3rd.

I had a magicka character but i just kept casting the same spells over and over and never really found or leveled up far enough to get better ones and combat got really old really fast. I love magic based characters in elder scrolls but for me the spells were bland and weak for too long of a time. But they may have fixed it now since this was over a year and half a go

You should take issue with bugs over poor optimization.
When something is broken it is much worse than when something runs slow. If I write something that leaves my end users unable to use a solution I programmed then that is a fail on me. If the end user experiences slow down then it could be the back end servers, the front end on the end users pc, etc.
Bugs are never accepted. Esp not in the amount we see from Bethesda.

It's been a steady improvement.
How long did you play?

The grindy nature of MMOs are not the same as the grindy nature of RPG achievements/item quests.
I can understand why it just wasn't your thing.

Well that's what I mean. Fallout 76 may be extremely buggy, but I haven't played it. Oblivion and Skyrim just didn't seem all that buggy to me.

a couple months. got up to level 25 or so. I was deconstructing and researching alot but when i went into dungeons i seemed to get killed fast and never got good loot and no friends online to help
Posted on 2/12/19 at 1:06 pm to LSU Coyote
i think if i had some friends to play with it might help the game for me but it is what it is

No, modders are going to have to fix the broken game.
They are still going to use their shite engine, that has been outdated.
You have morons in charge at Bethesda, running things these days. I expect a broken arse game, like Skyrim was for ps3.

from someone who runs enterprise projects on various solutions bugs are real and happen in every platform. the difference is the worst they were before was miss 1 of 1000 quests you may never find anyways. now you get booted from servers, no loot, miss end game fun, have a lack of quest lines to diverge which increases the importance of non bugged quests.
fallout76 was doomed as thfeir old engine inst built for multiplayer. everything was held up by a single player so having to run multiple caused the problem as the amount of code they rewrote is staggering I'm sure. they basically could have started over and ported skins easier I bet

Does anyone play this game online? I mean just in general, not here. I've watched youtube videos and I never see people teaming up.
