The Declaration of Independence brings religion into politics. Should we ignore it?

No - there is no 'religion' involved in a belief in a Creator (aka God) - "religion' only has a meaning within the construct of some organized set of rituals and tenets.

There was a long period of time where even the dumbest person in America fully understood that concept - you have to be seriously mal-educated and blissfully ignorant - and morally corrupt - to make acknowledgment of a Creator granting rights into a 'religion.'

Political decisions should not be made on a basis of religion.

Assume you are Catholic, do you want Baptist, Islamic, or any other religion to guide political decisions?
