The Wailing has its moments.
Not the strongest moment for Korean cinema...I just inculded it because it's on Netflix.
We all know Old Boy.
But very few have watched Bad Guy...which IMO is on par. If you want to get, what Korean Cinema is all about watch Bad Guy.
It's like I saw the Devil mixed with their more flowery stuff, Spring, Winter, Fall...
Korean cinema has extreme violence but they're also extremely wistful often about their violence.
I don't think Tarantino understood them and his love for them and copying them.
Korean cinema has never been violence for violence sake.
There's violence and there's tons of regret and mourning and confusion and poetry.

Sympathy for Mr Vengence is such multi-layers look at Asian culture we never see.
I will have to say, for Japanese movies, High and Low might be my favorite.
