of course it is, what's wrong with discussing it?
Bitching about UT fans ain't really discussing anything and LSU has a pretty solid basketball opportunity in front of it and baseball is here.
Thread is lame and not needed bro.

This is gay af. None of us play on these teams. The point of this site is to discuss LSU sports whenever someone wants to.

LSU is ranked 15 in returning productivity
Texas is ranked 121.
I think playing them so early in the year will be a big benefit. Their offense leans on the inside run (often QB power) and I don't think they will have much success against LSU with that. That's the benefit of having almost all your linemen be over 300lbs. It's a bad matchup for Texas.
They could move the ball in spurts with back shoulder throws to one of their 4 giant receivers, they had a ton of success with that last year, against UGA included, and they only lose 1 WR. But I don't think that will be enough to bail them out of the enviable 3rd and longs they are going to find themselves in most of the game.

whole lot of talk coming from Texas
When you hear A&M crowing about their program which has never done much to crow about, that's a state of Texas thing. Well, with some bleedover into Oxford, MS.

This metric and this metric alone is what led to phil steeles prediction and the media throwing up a 7-5 prediction for LSU.
On paper, we should beat Texas next year - but make no mistake - Tom Herman has earned his paycheck over there and they will have a young - talented - squad ready to play.
If they do win the game - home game or not - it speaks volumes about the direction of both programs.

Yes and the five most utilized receivers are back, only one thgt's shorter than 6'4" is Jefferson. Bet Burrow and those guys are gonna throw/catch a lot of passes this summer. I expect a great year throwing the ball, plus two or three deep in the backfield and better running than last year. If we can beat Texas we should be undefeated going into Bama and you can bet O knows that.

We will clearly be the better team on paper.
If you look at composite talent from 2018, LSU and Texas are virtually neck and neck. LINK
As far as talent ratings go, the teams are very close. LSU will have the edge in experience, particularly on defense.
Of course, talent ratings don't factor in intangibles.

Yeah, two of the most arrogant fanbases in the country.
You might have to do some lavatory waste carpet bombing.

How do they truly match up with us and vise versa.
They match up very poorly against us. They lose a lot on defense. They lose a lot on both lines. We play them early in the season and are predicted to have one of the top defenses in the nation, and we return more experience and productivity than any program in the nation. We'll have a huge experience edge, and they'll have trouble matching us physically and being able to put points on the board.
They will receive a LOT of hype going into next season. However, as far back as a couple of months ago, everyone that's not a longhorn fan had already realized this and branded them as overrated and their hype merely a media booster for CFB. The writing is on the wall early. The spread will go up and down but will reflect this reality as we approach game time.
It'll take a team with a very good offense and a very stout defense to beat us in 2019, assuming we don't have major injuries or coaching gaffes. The only thing the longhorns will have going for them heading into our game is home field advantage.

Which is a complete reverse from last season. We were dead last in the SEC in returning productivity and 114th in CFB. Texas was much higher up the list. Getting Emery acclimated quickly will be a key, because although I like CEH, I can't see him as our primary back in big games. If Pettigrew is 100% in spring I like him as a better target than Morreau. OL we return all of our starters considering Brum was a part time starter with Hines getting starts as well. We now have the luxury of competition to challenge and hopefully upgrade some of last season's starters.
My only defensive concern is losing the skill and physicality of White, but Queen and Baskerville give us solid options. Not concerned about Greedy. Stingley is an instant starter and star. He also gives us a dynamic PR which we lacked last year.
Barring significant injury set backs I feel really good about a week 2 matchup vs a more inexperienced Texas team. Keep Ehlinger in the pocket and I see us winning by at least 10.

I avoid morons as much as possible.
But, you tweaked my curiosity.
Have the Longhorns reached UCF and Miami Hurricane tard levels yet?

They have to replace 8 defensive starters.

LSU will be a MUCH better team than the one who beat Miami last year.
The Tigers will have better RBs, a more experienced OL and a better Burrow.
I get your point but this is equal across the board. Attrition happens at every school, but big programs have plenty of 3-4-5*'s to replace them with.

No one needs to talk about the game until fall camp. We gonna have attrition, arrests, pot, vague suspensions on both sides, maybe even an injury or two.
