Mötley Crüe

The music boards thoughts on mot Crüe. I’m a really big fan of these guys. I have Vince in my top 7 vocalists all time and I fell like they get pushed in with the rest of the generic hair metal of the 80s when they’re really above that. I feel like they are only second to GUNS N ROSES! Of the 80s and I was wondering what you guys though of the them.

Everything up to Dr Feelgood is decent

I’ve been a Crue fan since ‘83 and have seen many of their shows. Best Hair Metal Band to make it off the Sunset Strip other than GNR. I’ve also seen Vince Neil live a couple of times in the past 2-3 years solo. I enjoyed those shows just for the novelty of it and because I was able to watch Hair Metal royalty up close and personal (this includes Dana Strum). His vocal abilities now, and his physical appearance leave a LOT to be desired. He either owes a lot of people a lot of money to continue touring as a solo artist or he genuinely loves it that much. Still have a lot of respect for Vince as a vocalist due to the way he can still work the audience. Nikki Sixx is a songwriting powerhouse and an organizational genius, Mick Mars is still a massively talented guitarist, and I wouldn’t hesitate in putting Tommy Lee up against some of the best of the best drummers in the world including Neil Peart of Rush.
Mötley Crue has been my favorite band since the beginning and I’ll always hold them in high regard for everything they’ve accomplished including quality song writing, kick arse riffs, larger than life pyro driven stage shows and of course, 100+ million records sold.
Two questions for you:
1. Heard about the March 22nd premiere of “The Dirt” on Netflix?
And...
2. Why the frick have they never been nominated for the RNR Hall? The Hall brass collectively must be a bunch of super political jackasses who for whatever reason have blackballed the band.

I would say that's a stretch. Vince didn't have much range, but he was unique and a solid frontman (at times).

The band relied upon Nikki too much for songs and he was a notoriously unreliable drug addict. At the end of the day, they were the prototype for GNR.

As a Def Leppard fan, how do you think I feel, then?

The drummer was the best musician in the band.

First album is the best album.
Not a hair band.
Last album is very underrated.
