And the people of St. George can stop paying private school tuition which costs more per year than LSU and send them to public school

Eventually but that'll be years down the line. After the city is created then they'll need to establish an ISD. It'll take a few years for the school to get its act together before parents stop sending their kids to private school. Its been a way of life for so long the parents will want to see results first from the new ISD.
