In the comments someone posted the video from the boat in the background with the two anglers. Showed how much closer angler number one in the first video was.

From the angles of the 2 boats and splash from the bullet hit, I believe the shooter was to the LEFT of the boater in 1st video, shooting across the water from the bank where the deer first entered the water. And from the looks of it the shooter has shite aim. Looks to be at least 5ft wide right (from shooter's POV). Looks real close in the 1st vid but in the 2nd vid you can see it's way off. From the angles and looking closer at 1st vid you can tell the bullet hit between the deer and 1st boater. 2nd vid shows a large gap between deer and bullet hit.

yep, I think you're right. That would explain why it looks like it was 6 feet behind him in the 2nd video.
