Here's what the NFL should do right now:

1. Apologize to the Saints for the gross error, and say it was inexcusable and beyond a "judgment call"
2. Suspend the defender that admitted he intentionally trucked him with his helmet, for the Super Bowl and next season.
3. Fire the two incompetent referees that were at fault. (If they are allowed to work again, then there is strong evidence of collusion and coverup).
4. Make referees a full time occupation.

Give someone with a freaking brain in new york that can hit a WTF button; stop play and fix shite.

At this point, this is probably at the very high end of what we could realistically expect. It is also at the very low end of what I would consider acceptable recourse.

I agree. It is obvious that the suits and petitions will do noting to delay or stop the game between the Patriots and Rams. But they will continue to bring attention to this situation which must (???) be addressed.
So - what would it take to satisfy Saints fans and fans of the game of football?
1. Apologize to the Saints for the gross error, and say it was inexcusable and beyond a "judgment call"
ABSOLUTELY and before the Super Bowl is played
2. Suspend the defender that admitted he intentionally trucked him with his helmet, for the Super Bowl and next season.
Treat as if it had happened during any other game. I am not sure what the fine and/or suspension would be.
3. Fire the two incompetent referees that were at fault. (If they are allowed to work again, then there is strong evidence of collusion and coverup).
Never allow them to work an NFL game again. Too egregious an error to forgive.
4. Make referees a full time occupation.
This could happen but probably not before next season.
5. Change rules during the off-season to prevent a recurrence.

1. Roger Goodell has to perform harakiri. Sean Payton gets to assist with the decapitation.

No, because that means I have to wait and watch the first half.

Hit the NFL where it hurts. In the pocket book. Don't watch. With viewer numbers down, companies will stop advertising. Frick em.

1. Official apology and acknowledgement of a gross injustice is a no brainer and the very least of what Goodell should do.
2. Rams DB should receive substantial fine for the illegal hit. No suspension, unless he has a history of this.
3. Cavaletto should be put "on record" as to why he didn't throw the flag. The Saints and the NFL have a right to know what he was thinking. Absent that, I am going to assume he is corrupt. After he releases his statement, he should be terminated immediately for gross incompetence. Turner should be put "on record" as well. He at least reached for the flag, and I am assuming deferred to Cavaletto. As a result, I think he should be suspended, but maybe not fired. Vinovich should be suspended pending review. He lied in his post game interview - clearly saw the play and pretended he didn't. It's his job to make sure they got it right and he did nothing of the sort. Good chance he should be fired too, depending on what he says in his review.
4. Full time refs is long overdue.
I would add:
5. Booth replay of all calls, PI or otherwise, inside of final two minutes. Keep coaches challenges to the same number as now, but expand to include PI and other judgement type calls.
6. Add at least one more official to all crews. The game is moving too fast for these guys, especially the older ones. Need more eyes on the field.
7. Fire the Head of Officials, Riveron, and replace with Blandino, or someone similar. Quality of officiating is a joke. Riveron has to take the fall since it is on his watch.

Better yet, have this kind of person in the replay booth of every stadium during every game. Have an employee of each team in the booth with him. Sort of like college where every play is reviewed in some capacity.

The first three are must do's for the NFL and Goodell to maintain any sliver of the lowest degree of respectability. I'd replace the 4th with league driven measures to give the coaches more options for challenging field rulings. I'm not against allowing the booth to call non-line related penalties in the last 5 minutes of the game. Good list anyway.

#2 is overly harsh and overreaching.
SB suspension...sure.
Fine...of course.
Suspend for all of next season? No way.

There is no fixing this the damage is done that's why the NFL hasn't said shite because nothing they say or do puts the Saints playing next Sunday.
