No, it's entertainment. They have a plausible out for massaging games for viewer drama.
Manipulating a game for a direct gambling benefit may get some attention.

I doubt it’s a larger conspiracy. Likely just personal bias that can’t really be proved.
One ref is a former Ram, and another is from the area and has been seen wearing Ram gear in the past. Supposedly.
