If true, virtually every MSM outlet ran with this.
Where are the consequences?
Dan Rather was a titan of the media and lost his credibility and career over the Bush National Gaurd fake story only 14 years ago.
The entire MSM structure pushed this all day long and will just skate.
It’s incredible.

The consequences are every time they do this it makes Trump's (and anyone else for that matter) claims of "fake news" more credible. When you have a network lead "must run" segment on the threat to democracy by discrediting journalism then you also have a moral responsibility to do your best to get it right.

He said Congress must get the info and investigate.
Is his investigation On/OFF?
He is the type that will not let exonerating facts stop an investigation into Trump.
