Based on our final rank at the end of the season, and our way to early projection for next season, is it too soon to say that LSU is a playoff contender? Secondly, is Joe Burrow enough to lead the Tigers to the playoffs and/or a national championship. Is Joe Burrow going to bring back the line of good QBs at LSU? Hopefully this new recruiting class will bring in great talent, and explosive playmakers.

I think it’s like many posters have said. It will depend on the Oline. That said I think the offense will improve but how much it improves depends on the Oline.

If 11-1 gets us into the playoffs, then yes...I'm expecting no more than 1 regular season loss in 2019...this is based on the players we have.

If we aren't a legit playoff contender next year I'm not sure when we will be. Senior QB, stout defense, two stud freshmen RBs. Time to go get it.

There is absolutely no reason we don't win 10 regular season games next year which will definitely have us in the conversation.

With everything LSU has coming back, along with a VERY CAPABLE QB, LSU "should" be a playoff contender.

Winning the SEC will be tough. If we don't win the SEC, we don't get in the playoff.

They better be ready considering everything coming back, incoming class and depth.
I’m not in the group of celebrating 10 wins and 6th best.
They must win the games they’re suppose to and compete vs Bama.
If they can’t do that, there’s really no reason to be talking about playoffs.

No excuses next year. Zero.

Far from it.

When they start consistently winning 11 games every year, then we can have this discussion.

Can you please elaborate on this line of good QBs. How many does it take to be considered a line?

Unfortunately, I feel that as long as LSU has Steve Ensminger as offensive coordinator or anybody like him, the offense is going to continue to be mediocre at best. We have seen nothing to say otherwise and the stats back this up.

I want my future down voters of this post to come out and actually make some commentary and try to back up their position with substance.

Are they a contender to win the west? In other words, can they rise above Bama, Auburn, and A&M?

If the answer is yes then yes is the answer to the OP's question.

As good as the roster looks for the coming season, I think everything hinges on findin a LT that can anchor the line. Hard to gameplay around a weakness at that position.

I say YES.

LSU will start out pre-season Top 10.

The SEC is still the toughest conference in the country, and even though next year's schedule isn't as tough as this year's, it's still an SEC Schedule.

Having said that, we have all of the necessary ingredients coming back to have a championship contender next year.

Now, if we get a rash of injuries in weeks 1 and 2, then maybe things change.

Otherwise, we should be in the mix.

Texas looks to be improved and tough. Florida is still Florida and Auburn always has the potential to get it going and make a run as well.

But again, YES, we have 16 returning starters and depth, and a SENIOR experienced QB, that can make his share of plays.

My heart says yes but my brain says probably not.

I need to see the o-line and play calling get fixed before I truly believe we’re ready for the playoff

In October and November LSU finished 4-3. Who would see that performance as CFP contender?

Way too early. But I would worry about getting out of third place in the West and scoring a point on Bama first before thinking about a playoff appearance.
