Liberatards?

That's almost as weak as thinking you're winning political points by thinking that an American going to a private Canadian hospital is somehow indicative of an argument in favor of the Canadian healthcare system.

Most Canadian hospitals are privately owned. This hospital is privately owned they get most of its revenue from the Ontario Government. They accept Ontario insurance and if you read the article they gets most of its funding from the government. Plus you would think Rand Paul would practice what he preaches. I guess he can't find healthcare in the US to suit his needs.

Pretty sure no reasonable person has ever claimed that the US has the absolute best doctor/surgeon in every single discipline known to medicine. Arguing that because someone is seeking out a specific surgeon in Canada that it means that the entire Canadian healthcare paradigm is superior is a level of obtuse that strains credulity.

Amazing in a free country you can choose where to get treatment unlike countries like the UK with socialized medicine that let kids die instead of trying a new procedure somewhere else

You keep repeating this as if it's some kinda gotcha. Why do you think this sets Shouldice apart from American hospitals in this aspect? Do you know what the payer mix is for Shouldice? How many are out of pocket? The payer mix for an average U.S. hospital?

Or he's electing to have his surgery performed at a world-renowned hospital which happens to be the only one that specifically treats hernias. And he's fortunate enough to do so out of pocket.

Which gets all of its funding from deductions from taxpayer checks

There’s even a line item for medical on Canadian paystubs
