Congressional Democrats also won an election. That line doesn’t work anymore.
Yes it will. Let them show the country what they are really about. Stop forward progress and show themselves to be juvenile whiners over meaningless crap.

Tell me what you hate the most about President Trump.
Is it:
1) 3.5% Economic Growth?
2) The lowest unemployment rate EVER for blacks, Hispanics and Asians?
3) Tax Reform?
4) Regulation Reform?
5) Prison Reform?
6) Improved relations with North Korea?
7) A much tougher stance on the Muslim Caliphate in Iran?
8) Better trade deals?
9) Saying no to the wealth-redistribution scam known as the Paris Climate Accord?
10) Bringing troops home from Syria & Afghanistan?
I'll stop there, but which of those accomplishments make you left-wing loons hate him the most?

Funny how you left-wing kooks never respond to substantive questions. Why am I not surprised?

The man is relentless in attacking our intelligence communities and in blaming everyone but himself. That is the true mark of someone with something to hide and of someone doing his job for Putin. If not, then being a total dick all of the time disqualifies him from representing the USA. In either case, he is bad for America.

The intellegnce communities literally factually spied on him as a private citizen for political purposes and then tried to investigate and prosecute him for falsefied alleged crimes they manufactured. He's allowed to attack them for that. The liberal support and acceptance of the weaponization of the intellegnce community and IRS is as insane as it is terrifying.
And he is the president, he blames congress for not doing their job, because they aren't doing their job. He can't pass laws. And border security is an issue literally almost every Democrat voted consistently to support until Trump won.

Who else on the planet of 7+ billion humans has more than 2 years experience as president of the United States?

Such experience as community organizer is always better.

where's the off ramp?
Sadly, the off-ramp will be a political calculation. That said, there are outs:
1.a. Democrats owning the majority in the House craft an appropriation that doesn’t include wall funding. This was the first bill and would require enough Republicans that don’t believe in the wall to cross over to vote for it. Presidential veto would follow, but a 2/3rds vote in both Houses could override it. Would require a lot of Republican senators to believe the GOP is viewed as causing the shutdown. (Unlikely)
1.b. Same bill as 1.a., but White House signs it despite disagreement due to political concerns over shutdown. Would require President to determine Fed Shutdown is being blamed on him by enough Republican voters (not his base, but the rest) and that it is political suicide to continue. (most likely?)
2. Democrats cave and shift $5B away from other programs to fund the wall. If it passed the House it would fly through the Senate and WH. Would require Democrats in the House (where bill must originate) to believe their recent election wins (in which they ran against the wall) are no longer their mandate from constituents and that their base believes the shutdown is their fault. (Unlikely)
Whether you agree or disagree with either side, there is no doubt the House and Senate control America’s purse strings. The President approves or uses his veto power, but he can be overridden. His role is to lead the Executive Branch. The Legislative Branch is equal and the purse is theirs. Either they will decide he has made his case to the American People and they will be unwilling to face the electorate and they’ll cave in, or they’ll believe the People spoke during the midterms and they will force the President to make his own calculation.
I believe he desires reelection and will give in.
Worst case: The President decides he does not desire re-election and digs in regardless of the political climate and the Senate cannot generate a 2/3rds vote, leaving the Shutdown to go another month and both sides get pilloried as the government employees begin to quit as they seek employment elsewhere or retire.

I know many on here think all government is bad and a complete tear down is required, but I work in the Fed Gvt in DC (I’m working and getting paid) and not only are the civilians being impacted some very professional, very good people (obviously they are a cross-section of the population, but think upper-to-middle management and well educated, with families), they are very hard to replace given fed pay and fed hiring processes. If they start leaving, it will make things difficult and it will impact outside of DC.

If they are as valuable as you say they are, they will provide a great benefit to the companies that recruit them to the private sector.
If they retire, it opens up channels for advancement for younger or newer employees that can bring fresh ideas.

1. It's called public service not public career
2. Federal hiring practices need to be blown up, burned down, and started anew. We need to rethink everything about the way our government is organized because its current makeup works for no one but it's own self-perpetuating beaurocracy.

I don't know how long you've been in the public sector, but here's a private sector lesson even a Wal-Mart cashier learns on Day 1: No one is irreplaceable.
