Never played the originals, but damn, this was frightening, but shooting the zombies in the head is so satisfying.
The graphics look tremendous. You can feel the zombies face sliding off after a good hit.
Don’t really like horror games that much but I might have to give this a try

I watched some guy play this on twitch last night, looked great. I have the original and played it a lot back in the day. Looks like a few differences but nothing major.

I played it, it wasn't that scary, that said I will get the game.

I thought it was. Maybe I have s low tolerance for that in games.

I played it last night, thought it was awesome. Only complaint is that the guns felt like nerf guns. They need to add some umph to them via vibration or something.
Day 1 buy. Original is one of my favorites

preordered deluxe edition from Best Buy
deluxe is $10 more and only gets you a bunch of costumes, but it also includes the original soundtrack (many songs of which are burnt into my head from nostalgia). ordering at BB gets you an exclusive steelbook that looks pretty dope
ill play the first run with the new soundtrack then do a retro run with the original

I think this is a no brainer for me. I want to re-live those all nighters as a kid again and this was a lot of fun and way smoother than I could have wanted. Not so clunky and outdated.

It's the same demo they showed at E3.

so far, but theyve added a new area like they did with the re1 remake, and a number of the gameplay videos featured a couple areas i couldnt really pinpoint.
playing the demo was interesting, lots of familiar places but everything was different enough that i never felt comfortable at all about what was around the corner.
just finished 7 this week, which was great, and im super pumped for 2.

I wasn’t planning on buying this game, but then I played the demo and it completely changed my mind. It has that RE7 feel in some ways and I love it. Only RE game I’ve ever played was RE7 and I enjoyed every minute of it

The fixed camera angles was, imo, what made the original RE so creepy. It was almost like watching through mounted security cameras. Sometimes you'd be headed down a hall and catch a flash of something big passing by a window to the outside, and get chills not knowing if something was going to jump you when you passed by. That game was innovative, creepy and groundbreaking.

If it's anything close to Dead Space I'll finally buy a new console.

Or you can get the PC Master Race version.

Which is the best platform to pre-order this? I noticed Best Buy is offering a steelbook with pre-order (digital), but that's the only perk I've seen.

Which consoles do you have?
If you have a standard Xbox One, don't even bother getting the game - performs horribly. PS4 is much better, and PS4 Pro and Xbox One X are incredible (blow the standard consoles out the water). Premium consoles maintain 60fps save for a few moments
One X slightly outperforms the Pro, but im getting it for Pro anyway since thats where all my RE games are. Ordered the Deluxe edition through Best Buy, I suggest yall do the same.

Summary of Digital Foundry findings:
quote:
DF considers this build might be the same as the EGX build (including timer)
All (console) versions include filmic motion blur, SSR, heaps of volumetric lighting etc.
XB Base and PS4 Base: Final output 1080p. XB One version is reconstructing from lower resolution, not native
Both Pro and XBX running at 1620p with elements of reconstruction on both
PS4 Pro has 'chunkier' SSR and DoF effects
PC version has a 'frankly amazing' graphics option
Alex mentions to ignore the PC VRAM usage statistic as it is mostly incorrect
PC has higher resolution effects compared to X/Pro on higher settings
SSR has smaller blockier chunks on PC
Distant enemies have half-rate animations (even on PC)
Do not run the game on DX 12, approx 23% drop in performance
XBX and Pro performs 'incredibly' and mostly hit their 60 FPS target - "Awesome performance in general"
Base consoles target 60 but do not come close, PS4 is mostly in 40's and XBO mostly in 30's
On PC RX580 and 1060 fall short of 4K on high presets
Coming closer to console resolution, RX 580 fares better and both perform better/closer to 60
2080TI at max 4K could not maintain 60 in one hall with volumetric lighting, otherwise maintained 60

Well, I must've phrased this horribly. What I meant is which pre-order (Amazon, Best Buy, Gamestop, etc) should I do this through? That's why I mentioned the steelbook being offered via Best Buy, but I don't see anything extra anywhere else.
