GMC Sierra vs Denali

Looking at 2017/2018 Sierra Premiere and Denali trucks. 4wd. The Denali has the bigger engine and few more options and magnetic ride control (not sure what that is). Whats the OB's report on comparing these two? There are deals out there on these now, and the Denali is not that much more expensive. Will be used as a daily driver and pull 24' boat occasionally. Thanks

If the difference in price doesn't bother you go for the Denali. They have way better resale value and that 6.2L is an awesome engine.
Be ready for 13-16mpg average. The 5.3L will be 17-19mpg average if you go that route.
The rebates on the SLT's right now are really good. I've seen as high as $15k off advertised so far.

Both can do this

It's all up to you. Have you test driven each? Personally I'd go with the regular z71 package Sierra

MPG is not true. I've had both--a 2015 5.3 followed by a 2017 Denali with the 6.2.
The 6.2 gets 2-3 mpg better, particularly on the highway. I'm guessing due to the 8 speed tranny vs 6?
The 6.2 is flat out awesome. A monster motor that sips fuel and makes driving fun. Tows great too.

If it were me id go with the At4 package sierra. I was looking at them back in novemer, and that would be the one i get. I ended up going with a tundra though. First toyota ever, had nothing but chevy or gmc over the yrs

I'm not sure why that Denali isn't already sitting in your driveway with some stainless steel trucks nuts dragging behind

How has your Tundra been? In a previous post before, I am looking at a Toyota truck. Mad at Ford and GM. Ford having a massive amount of truck recalls and their stupid V6 addiction. GM got a Chapter 11 reorganization aka bailout by the gov't then 10 years later, wants to leave the country.

They make a z71 package in the Sierra?

That’s what mine is. Sierra SLT z71. 6 speed trans

man i love it. My dads a mechanic by tradr, and we have always been chevy/gm guys. I previously had a 2010 silverado, 2014 silverado, and 2017 gmc sierra. Dad currently drives a 2014 gmc sierra. I wasnt even looking to buy, just stopped to check out the 2019 tundra, since they are now made in the usa..the guy gave me a deal i couldnt pass up and i came home in it. Took it on a 500mile hunting trip to missouro haulinh a polaris ranger, with the last 100miles in snow. Never missed a beat. While it isnt as (luxury) looking on the accents and stuff inside... it drives great, super comfortable, and seems back seat is bigger than my gmc, which is great having to use car seat. Zero issues with it, and very happy with it.

i have since took all that chrome off the front though

If you plan on lifting it or putting a leveling kit on it, go the sierra route. Once you lift it, you'll lose the magnetic ride the denali offers. Unless you absolutely want the 6.2L engine, I think a sierra SLT is the better route to go.

Looks pretty nice. How is the mpg and filling it up? I have had a 1999 GMC Sierra during college and 2017 GMC Sierra recently.
Does the back seat have air vents for children and/or animals?
As you know every southern boy loves the z71 package on a Chevy or GMC.
I am looking at a Tacoma or Tundra. Toyota having the million mile warranty seems like the real deal. Do you have the backup lights?

Yep the 6.2 is a beast! It's the only engine from GM I would even consider. The 5.3 is way outdated.
Problem for most people is GM will only put the 6.2 in the very high end packages..

I agree. Barkley GMC in Tuscaloosa does offer level kit, upgraded tires, tool box and vent visors.

Denali has to be parked inside a garage. If you don't have a garage, get the regular edition. If a Denali is parked outside, you may lose the rims overnight.
