The opposite. You are manning the frick up and facing the problem. Good luck.
I agree, couldn't be more proud of you right now.

A beer here or two beers there?
In my experience with a close family member, that's a big NO. They aren't able to maintain that mindset and it quickly reverts back to full blown alcoholism. The backslide always starts with just a glass of wine, or a beer here and there.

Was cabin 5 the fancy one that they put the doctors in? I only got to live there for about a week and a half.

You shouldn't. It takes a strong person to take care of your matters.

Oh no, you should be fine. You just might want to start clearing your calendar for the next 10 months, though.

if it hasn't happened by now... took that down thinking now's not the time for levity for the kid, but really, for someone in that position, the need for levity, to balance all of the conditioning that he's about to be subjected to is exactly what is needed to maintain an even keel of sanity

fact. my FIL was an alcoholic. he was fine as long as he didn't take a sip. but, as soon as he took that first sip he was blacked out drunk for as long as his money would last. wouldn't go to work.wouldn't spend time with family. the only time he left the house was to go to a bar or store to get more booze.
after money ran out, into rehab.sober up. rinse repeat.
finally managed to remain sober the last 15 years of his life.

You're a newb who is actually a pompous dick to people here.
Go worry about making WBRZ better and stop picking on posters.
Goodluck Whit. You and BnB should seriously be penpals. Going through it at the same time just a few states apart.

Ten months? Three months? Away? How do y'all have the chance to take off so much time?

I think when they hit that level aka rock bottom, it's the only option. Jobs, family life, etc are on the backburner.

I watched someone sober for 18 years post rehab. Decided to have a drink at a business lunch. In a matter of weeks, was like he had never stopped. It's crazy, I can't wrap my brain around it. Rehabbed again in his 70's. 90 days later, got out with a new attitude and lease on life.....for about a month.

It depends. I went in at 220, came out at 170. I was a heavy vodka drinker. It was like fat camp for me.

I'm in your corner Whit. You did the hardest thing already and that is own up that you need help and accept the help. Stay strong and come out better than ever.

a lot of companies have dependency programs that allow people to take time off to get well. my fil worked for a railroad and as long as he agreed to rehab, they couldn't or wouldn't fire him.

Thanks. I hadn't read enough to know if they had hit rock bottom. Not everyone has to to decide to rehab.
