Since we need spots, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Sheffler move on.
I really liked his film. He's an aggressive blocker that plays with a mean streak and he's an adequate, not great receiver because he's not very athletic. He's only 6'3 so not very tall by TE standards. Probably similar to Morreau but smaller. More of an H-back type.

LSU is thin at TE.
Pettigrew (Best true TE on team but coming off knee surgery)
Moss (Also coming off of injury)
TK McClendon (Has athletic ability and size to be an all round TE)
McMath (WR masquerading as a TE at this point)
Scheffer (Smallish TE that may not remain on the team from what I've read)
D. Scott (I expect him to return to defense if he hasn't already)
C. Turner (will get look at TE to start)
So LSU really has 4 true TE's in my opinion. 2 are coming off major surgeries and 2 are first year players.
LSU really needs Ray Parker in this class. Start him off at TE as freshman and let him move into LT role eventually.

Yeah if the staff really likes Parker then give him the opportunity to try TE and switch if he's not best suited there. It worked for us with the recruiting of Rosenthal. We need athletic guys at OT. There's too much edge speed in the SEC to play slow footed OTs.

We couldn't run over half of our offense this year due to a lack of true TEs for 2 TE sets. Yes we are thin at true TEs

This is so bizarre. Why does LSU struggle to recruit true OTs? FFS.

I don't know...I think it's keeping us from potentially being MUCH more successful on the field, though.
The most bizarre thing is that we have a lot of recruiting ammo for top OT prospects...#1 thing being that we have very good OG's...we also traditionally have very good RB's and WR's. We have many tools for a great offense.
QB and OT...those have been the positions that have been keeping us from taking the next steps for many years now. I think we're currently fixing our QB woes...it took a transfer to do this, perhaps. I think our OT woes haven't changed much...we're hoping Dare, Wire or Deculus change that, because this current class doesn't look like the ticket.
We could absolutely use improvement on the DL. Landing Ika was huge, and landing another SDE/DT in this class will be also.
Next year we need to load up on the lines...3 true OT's, 2-3 OG's, 1 C...3-4 non-NT DL, 1-2 NT DL.

Insider on 247 board (not a mod), just said Parker is in, nothing to worry about. I'd go bet a lot of $ they told him to wait for his grades from this past semester, and they came in and look good now. So he'll sign next month.

This could be excellent news for LSU if they can get Parker to focus on OT right from the start. He's already a project, so no use wasting time training and conditioning him for TE if his future is at OT. And we need his future to be at OT.

One of parkers coaches is a friend of mine. Says Ray doesnt have the grades as of now. 16 on ACT and really doesnt give a shite either. Doesnt expect ray to have the grades for LSU or D1
