College Football Championship date

Would it make more sense to play it on the Saturday the week before the Superbowl? It is a dead weakend for football. A Saturday night and no competition seems like a no brainer to me from an advertising standpoint.

People watch football on Mondays anyway and are less likely to be out and about.

Nope, wayyyy too much time between games. There’s already nearly a month between CCG weekend and the playoffs. Then add another month before the championship? Bad idea for everyone involved.
I agree it should not be on Monday though, and a Saturday seems ideal. I’d probably just have the playoffs on the Saturday before Christmas or NYE then the NCG on the one after the holidays. So today.
No reason the wild card round of the NFL can’t all be on Sunday. 1-2 at noon, The opposite at 4pm, then the night game like usual.

Semifinals two weeks after conference championships on a mid-December Saturday & national championship on New Year's Day.

Saturday night is usually the worst day for TV ratings and the ratings for the CFB Playoff Semifinals last Saturday were abysmal.
