It was all about relationships on the ship. Where were the adventures on new planets? It wasn’t shocking insight on human relationships, so what gives?

Ship in a bottle episode, bro.

Those kinds of episodes were the worst from Star Trek Next Generation.

I agree. I liked it fine - but frankly, for a comeback episode, if it hoped to attract new viewers, it was weak. You had to already care/know a bit about the characters to get into it.
Basically, it was an episode to say that the same formula for the relationship was not going to be the same this season, but would still play out most of the season.

Yeah, I was really disappointed in the episode last night.

Very bad episode to open the second season with, it had the feel of a tng show.
I would not have put this script to film.

now im glad i missed it
most of them i watched last year online, days after they had aired because it wasnt in a time slot for me to watch it live
this sounds like the SJW "feels" brigade was involved in "improving the show"
if that is the case, they will kill what little following the show has earned
i kind of found it amusing and a good way to kill time watching it but it isnt a must watch show by any stretch

Not sure where you're getting that. It was just a low-effort episode I guess intended to reacquaint the audience w/ the cast and dynamic between MacFarlane's character and his smoking hot ex.
The SJW-ish comments in the first season I took mainly as sort of tongue-in-cheek nods to the more pious b.s. in TNG.
I missed the opening last night, was Norm MacDonald in it at all? I'd be disappointed if he didn't come back.

This would have been a very good 3rd episode.
I dont think it was terrible, but I agree that for a season opener, it was surprising.

Doesn't matter. The charge has been made. The show now has the letters of shame attached to it. Tie a rock around its neck and see if it floats. Otherwise it's a big, fat, liberal witch.

I turned it off and starting watching Travelers on Netflix.

Yeah this was a strange way to begin the new season but I enjoyed it. Bortus’ pissing ceremony made me laugh pretty hard .

\Norm wasn't in this episode. They did have Jason Alexander though.
Not exactly a fan of Alexander's so it wasn't an upgrade IMO. Everything is better with Norm McDonald in it.
