You leave madden out of this and as for NCAA 14 my players stay all 4 years, give it all for our program and never sit out a game

Yeah, I can't believe that they will pass on earning millions of dollars at their professions instead of staying an extra year and getting their Mass Comm degree so Tiger Rant poster #11827 can feel better about LSU's chances against Alabama next year...maybe.

Or maybe we should ask Jalen Hurts, or Tre White, or Leonard Fournette, you know the players who do the exact opposite of this because they care about their programs.

-fans don’t care about the games enough to stay all the way through the games

They still buy all the tickets.

-conferences are pointless, notre dames not even in one/ you don’t have to win your conference to make the playoffs

This one I agree with.

quote:

-Coaches don’t care- huge buy outs allow them to get comfortable at a place for an extended period of time/leave a school as soon as a better opportunity presents itself.

This has always been there and is there for literally every job everywhere. I'm glad you're a super fan but this is also a job.

quote:

-NCAA doesn’t care- with the emergence of the grad transfer trend and new redshirting rule a player can transfer mid season or at the very end of the career if the feel it is in their best interest- no allegiance

Yes. Football players should not be able to change schools in the same way that any other student can because Tiger Rant poster #11827 might not feel as good about LSU's chances against Alabama next year...maybe.

-only a select few have a shot at even making the playoffs and everyone else fights over spots in watered down bowl games that no one gives a frick about (zero attendance) and least of all the players.

Even fewer had a shot at the BCS, and even fewer than that had a shot at the AP or coaches NC before. You dont give a frick about bowl games because LSU is used to being in the conversation for a NC and now they aren't. The bowls are just as pointless as they always were.

Because you enjoy it. If you don't don't spend money on it.

There is no point to going to see Aquaman. It is probably going to be terrible and will be on Netflix in a couple of months. But I like eating Reese's pieces and not thinking about work.

If you don't like it don't watch. But you will, because this isn't about college football not being pure like back in the good ole days, it's just because you're butt hurt that college kids do what they want instead of what you want, and you're worried it might mean LSU will lose to UCF.

But it might not.

Either way, don't be such a snowflake.

It's a game.

It's always been a game.

If the team you cheer for wins, it doesn't make you better than the opponent's fans, the school better than the opponent school, or the state better than the opponent's state. It doesn't make your kids smarter, your wife prettier, or your car use less gas.

It's just a game. It's always been just a game.

You kinda sound like a gump.

You don't want to sound like a gump.

Did it ever have a point, other than entertainment and supporting your school? It has been the minor league for the NFL, since the beginning of professional football. Money has definitely changed things, but it doesn't change the point of college football.

What’s the point of college football. For players, get noticed and make it to the NFL. For Conferences, make $ for athletic programs.

It is entertainment, nothing more, and never has been anything more than that. That's why I was always against the BCS and then the playoffs. There is no need for a "National Champion" -- let the polls go where they go. Just enjoy the games and enjoy rooting for your team.

Wrong. CFB is great. The only realm problem is the NCAA tries to have its cake and eat it too with the playoffs and traditional bowls.

That has made Bowl season boring and meaningless.

Sure, the Bama dynasty is old and tiresome but it won’t last forever.

The biggest problem with college football is parity. It's especially bad now that they have a college football playoff. If you don't make it or you don't have any reasonable expectation to make it, then there's really no point in being a fan.

Before, during the BCS era, only two teams would make it to the promised land so obviously it wasn't realistic for most fans to expect to be in that number. During that time, making a big bowl was a big deal.

The NFL figured this out a long time ago and made some rule changes and installed a salary cap. After that, the NFL took off unlike any sports league in history. Before that, the NFL was struggling a bit.

College football right now is like what the NFL was before the salary cap. I'm not sure how you fix it at the collegiate level but unless something is done, outside a five or six teams the interest going to continue to dwindle.

Playoff has rendered rest of bowls meaningless.

I'm all for the pros developing a minor league and the colleges getting back to having true student athletes like the service academies are today

This.

This.
This.
This.
and this.

The NFL needs a minor league, semi-pro, indoor, summer league. There are a lot of mid-level cities that don't have an NFL franchise that would absolutely love to have a semi-pro team to root for. San Antonio instantly comes to mind especially since they're more than twice the size of some cities that do have NFL franchises. Like New Orleans, Buffalo and Green Bay.

This would push all the four and five-star guys who have a legit shot at making the NFL into that league and then leave our beloved college teams to the low star guys that are actually there to play for school spirit and a degree. That would also create more parity at the college level.

I agree with many in this thread that the game isn’t what it used to be and it’s most definitely trending in the wrong direction. We can’t even get the SEC office out of Birmingham, or a decent appeal process for human error which makes the game feel corrupted.

I think the NFL can be boring because of the parity, there is something about the entertaining factor in sports where there is a gap between the players. I think at the high school level it’s too large a gap, CFB at the upper end is just right, and the NFL is too evenly matched. Maybe the quality of the game is better with parity but the entertainment is watching players like Fournette demolish Auburn defenders on the way to the end zone.

I think being an LSU fan sucks because we always find ourselves playing second fiddle to the best team, and this isn’t the first time, history has repeated itself. Also, at this point with the current bama winning streak it feels like we will never close the gap.

Another point that IDont comprehend is how do all these high school kids who are the best players in their class, continue to choose a school where every thing has been accomplished.

I feel the current generation are full of pussies like Tua who enjoys throwing to wide open receivers with 20 yds between them and the defender.

It would be like playing NCAA football with all 99 rated players in the sun belt conference, what fun is that?

How so? Even before the BCS, there were only 2 or 3 bowls relevant when it came to a National Championship.

That's why so many with "Amite Warriors" (And others from Louisiana) on their jersey's want to spend four years of their lives in Tuscaloosa Freaking Alabama!

Too many of them don't yet see "Championships" as a possibility at LSU under the current regime...…..

It really is a sad state of affairs we currently live in.

When I was growing up in the 80s, I watched MLB, NFL, pro and college basketball and football. Over paid millionaires who spew their shite with their platform that SJWs cream over because all they talk about is liberal shite did it for me on pro sports. Shut the frick up and play sports. I don't give a flying frick about your political stance.

College basketball started sucking when high school kids started going pro and some of these top colleges became pro factories destroying parity.

NCAA football is the last pure sport and about the only sport I watch. And it is starting to be corrupted like all the other ones.

This whole me generation and "names on the jersey" was the start. I'm getting less and less interested in college football by the year. All these "greedy" players sitting out top notch bowls games is piss poor.

I am starting to follow LSU baseball more and more now.
