I was a fan of CC. Found the video interesting. Makes me want to play some 90s computer games. Geaux Tigers!

Interesting. Last time I stepped foot in one was May 2008 after I got married, and my father in law bought a digital camera. Used to enjoy the television selection as a kid in the early 2000s and their consumer electronics.

Wife and I went to Best buy for the first time in a long time and found out they do not carry music compact disks anymore (as of a few months ago). Was shocked, but I guess most music is downloaded now days. The associate that I dealt with seemed blown away about us asking.

I think they made a huge frick up by remodeling their stores and changing their logo

Once this happened, I lost interest in Circuit City

That does kind of shock me too, but it also seems like a wise and economic business move. I would not be surprised if they do away with DVDs before too long. I haven't purchased a DVD in years. I may be a little different in that I almost never watch a movie more than once...but with all of the apps available, you can view everything instantly.
In my case, even if I have to rent something for 8-10 bucks to see it, that's cheaper than paying 20 to buy something I will only ever watch once.

Best Buy survives because they moved to a store within a store concept. Microsoft, Samsung, Apple, sprint, Verizon, ATT, and others pay Best Buy to have a branded presence in their stores.

I agree. JCPenney tried to move to that model, and it was an unmitigated disaster. The CEO when they tried to do that... was a tech guy from Apple.

Not all retail is created equal.

There's some cool videos done by them. I was up till 2 watching a few. Watched the one where they built a huge box store location on top of a dump in Ohio and watched them go through a power plant. I appreciate OP sharing this.

You can do that with tech. Not so much with shitty JC Penny brands.

We had a Circuit City right next to a Best Buy at Bailey's crossroads. All I remember about the last days of CC were that they had Fallout Boy in all of their last big commercials. I have no idea how one still exists while the other died hard.
