What’s your bow set up and how much do you like it?

Bow Tech prodigy 50-60 lb (set at 59)
Carbon Express red 250
100 grain rage hypodermic
HHA single pin
296 FPS
My bow is a very comfortable draw. I wish it was a little faster but I haven’t had any issues to this day. Knock on wood. It’s a short axle bow and is not forgiving so you have to be on your game. I may get a longer axle bow in the future.

Mathews Z7 29/70
Easton Bloodline 350
Muzzy hybrids 100gr.
287 fps
I bought the bow brand new in 2010 and have loved it from day one. I plan to buy a triax this summer. I’m finally ready to commit to a dual cam and the smoothness of the triax shot is unmatched.

Isn’t that z7 a longer axle bow?

Mathews Halon 32 70lbs
Carbon Express maxima red sd 350
100 gr. slick trick magnums
I love the bow, shoots great. However, my shoulder does not. Have it for sale--gonna buy a new vertix with some 60 or 65 lb mods in it.

I started out 28 years ago with a pse fireflight express. I was extremely accurate with that thing. It was long axle probably shot about 250 FPS but man that was a bow. Then I had the first Matthews solo cam. It was a good bow.

I’ve always shot 50-60 lb bows I want to be extremely comfortable when drawing from my climber while sitting 30 up a tree

Hoyt Charger 70lb 29" draw
Easton Bloodline 330's
Want a new one, but cant quit this one, it's too accurate and its compact.

why not just take some lbs off the Halon 32?
Posted on 12/26/18 at 2:13 pm to Bow dude72
Matthews z7xtreme 29.5/70
I love it, but
if I wasn't a lefty I would've sold it to a buddy and bought the triax or the Tx-5

Everything I've seen and read says that a bow is at its most efficient with the limbs maxed out. If i was beginning at 60 and working up to 70 that would be great. But since this will be a permanent step down, I'm going to get a max that i'm more comfortable with.

That south wind is kicking arse today.

Mathews Halon 32 (65/29)
Easton 6mm Hexx 330 gr
Rage Trypan 100 gr (deer); Slick Trick 4-blade (elk/mule deer)
Black Gold Ascent
Front stabilizer - Mathews 10 inch or Bee Stinger 6 inch (w/ Bee Stinger quick disconnect)
Offset Stabilizer - Bee Stinger 6 or 8 inch (w/ Bee Stinger Sidebar Elite w/ quick disconnect)
I also shoot a back tension release pretty often but have gone to a no string loop shooting recently

that's definitely true on efficiency
but the halon is a good bow and is still very efficient. I turned mine 3 turns just to make it a little easier for shooting out of the tree saddle and it does very well. one step lower on speed, but still very fast, quiet, and deadly.
if you like the halon, you might be spending a lot of money for the vertix to gain very little in efficiency

tree saddle
I looked into those tree saddles years ago. Do you like them? How comfortable is the saddle?
Posted on 12/26/18 at 2:50 pm to Bow dude72
Yes sir, it's awesome. I have two, but this year is the first year I got a Tetherd Mantis. It is an excellent saddle. I am not small by any measure and feel very comfortable hunting out of it. It has micro adjustments that I can tweak, which I like. If you are comfortable using a lineman's rope for hanging your tree stand, then you will be able to transition to a tree saddle without issue. I consider it a must-have for public land hunting.
My setup is
Tetherd saddle and predator platform
3 lone wolf climbing sticks w/ cheaters to get higher
I still have my lone wolf hang on tree stand though. On public land, I use the saddle. I hunt the rut in Kansas every year on private land, and there I use the lone wolf and the saddle together. I'll hang the lone wolf in an area that I think I can access easily in the mornings without busting deer and then if I want to move in the afternoon I'll take the saddle.
