Have fun

Backwards test regular investments over period of 10 years or longer.

Get back to me about how scared you might be.

If your time horizon is greater than 15 years and the market is terrifying you, stick to CDs because you're incapable of assessing risk. Backwards testing the S&P

My only regret is that I don't have more liquidity right now to dump into the market

Good point. I remember way back in the mid nineties the company I was working for had a guy come in and explain how 401k's generally worked and he told us that there has never been a point where if you went back twenty years the markets would be higher.

He said that while the market can swing pretty wildly short term over the long run you are probably going to finish ahead.

He recommended if you are early in your career go pretty high risk and when you get within five to seven years of retirement then you would want the majority of it in safer accounts.

Here is a first site that allows one to backtest portfolios, determine the ideal asset allocation based on one’s goals, and run Monte Carlo simulation of returns to determine a range of return estimates.!

So was Trump lying or stupid when he claimed that the President has a direct effect on the market? I mean, he's a financial genius, so I guess he has just been lying all of these years?

I’m 27, dips in the market are called “discounts” and are good for me in the long run.
