Friend Is Gifting His Somewhat Chubby Wife A Peloton For Christmas

Just found out and apparently it's the big ticket item for her. Some other smaller stuff like earrings etc but this is the elephant in the room. She's not what I would call big big but she's a good 35 pounds above his goal weight he says. She DID NOT ask for it and does not have a gym membership
What are his chances he makes it out alive?

It's much cheaper to just tell her she needs to lose weight and then have her not do it anyway vs buying a 2200 dollar piece of equipment and have her not lose the weight anyway.

I busted out laughing when he told me. He's pretty funny and knows it's a huge gamble. In between being nervous as shite and wanting to actually look at her when she gets out of the shower again
