Any rational person who actually cares about Devin White, the individual, not Devin White the Tiger, would want him to go and reap the 8-figure reward that awaits.

If you really wanna get all self righteous, then why not wish for Devin to do what he believes is best for him? Of course it was a statement about what is best for LSU, but I want him to what's best for him and I will be happy for him either way, the same as I'm happy for Greedy and the decision he made.

Devin can have both.
Devin can return for his senior year AND get paid 8-figures at the same time?

Then what's all this kerfuffle about?

Back to the OP.

here's what's great about getting Ika. First it gives us another western, poly recruit.

Shelvin, Ika and Big Ed (expecting him back, but not definite) give us a full group of NTs and you can add Livingston.

Fehoko can move to DE which is where he should be in the first place. He can be a disruptive player at DE and it strengthens the DL considerably.

If Shelvin can stay in shape and at least 2/3 of Lawrence/Ed/Fehoko return we will be in very good shape on the DL. We have a lot of young DL that can rotate in.

I want what's best for the school....sorry, I'm selfish in that regard.

I'm not mad at all. It just doesn't matter to me if you don't believe me and I wouldn't expect you to give a flying frick if I didn't believe you.

First off, how do you know going to the nfl early is whats "best for him"
You know just what his destiny is huh?
And for the guy that said he will take the season off if we lose early ..what the frick?
What have you seen or heard Devon white say or do that makes you think he would take the rest of the season off, much less that the coaches would think that is acceptable?

Best NFL Draft class of D-lineman in 20 years. Any DL that has the option should return, should. It will be financially worth their while to come out next year.

Did I say this?

Eta: You actually had me believing I may have said it. I had to go back through the thread to make sure.

Fair enough.

My point is...these kids use the school for a free ride, an education, a chance to play big-time college football, and a stepping stone to the NFL.....just like we use them to enhance our program and win games.
For that reason.....I want them to fulfill their obligation and see it through....to the end.

I get it. I would love to see Devin back in the purple and gold for another season. But, IMO he's fulfilled his obligation to LSU and has help us win plenty of games, helped make the athletic office make tons of money and being a top 15-20 pick will help LSU recruit for years to come. If he chooses to go pro, I will be happy for him and cheer for him as long as it doesn't hurt the Saints.

While White very well might leave, I truly believe he is sure he will have a
great life even if he never plays a down in the NFL, so he looks at leaving early very differently than most of our other players have.

Yep. That's why I left the door open. My concern was that with his chronic knee issues he may decide he better make bank before his health issues shorten his career.
