Q1: Do you think Louisiana is headed in the right direction or is it on the wrong track?
Right direction: 42%
Wrong track: 43%
basically dead even

Q3: What is your opinion of John Bel Edwards? Favorable: 46%
Unfavorable: 40%
more favorable than unfavorable

“Two things are clear from this poll: John Bel Edwards is a one-term governor, and I’m the man who can take him down.
I don't know which poll he's looking at but it isn't this one. No one in the state knows who he or Rispone are. Unless a Republican with some name value like Jeff Landry or Garrett Graves gets in the race, JBE has this one in the bag.

I see you are still online yet not responding........

You're either confused or just trying to deflect.
My position on Bobby Jindal is well known on this board and I'm not getting into that again and this thread is not about Jindal.

Uh JBE is the incumbent here in a bright arse red state and he's the one that has to defend his tax and spend track record against two conservatives that will likely not mud sling and attack each other like it's 2015.
quote:
No one in the state knows who he or Rispone are.
That's the biggest problem for JBE.
He's tied with one of them and can't get above 50% against the other one and this campaign has even really started in full yet with ads on TV and mail, barnstorming around the state and debates.

He would disagree with you.
Louisiana has a history of electing Governors that has come out of nowhere like Dave Treen, Blanco, Buddy Roemer and JBE.
No democrat has won reelection as governor since the 70s.

Louisiana is not as red as people think it is. Economically speaking, we are very liberal. JBE hasn't pushed any pro gay or anti Catholic policies so the same Republicans that voted for him before will likely vote for him again. I just hope Abraham or Rispone hit him hard on threatening to cancel LSU football.

Well then GTFO telling me I should have voted for Vitter when you can't defend "Mr. Conservative" himself Jindal.
I've repeatedly said to you that Vitter was on a warpath with elected commissioners demanding public support or grave consequences.
I'm proud of voting against Vitter.
Don't ever come at me again talking about how we would be better off with Vitter. You don't know. You damn well thought we would have been better off under Jindal. We are far worse because of him and the cowards in the legislature

I would argue that this state is like 40-45% ideological conservative like you would see across the south.
It's the moderates AKA RINOs that make up the other 10-15 of the GOP base that's going to determine the winner here and according to this poll quite a few of them are going to be voting against him.

Well this is just wrong.
He issued an executive order for LGBT protections for state contractors and the Louisiana supreme court threw it out.

Easy pickings for sure.

Government, stay out of my bedroom and my pocketbook. Marriage and Marijuana should be a state issue and no one should care what you do on your own time as long as you are not infringing on other people's rights.

Now you're just making shite up.
Jindal's failure isn't what he did but rather did not do.
He abandoned this state for a delusional, pie in the sky Presidential run that was dead in the water before it even started and refused to do his job and let the budget go tits up.
I will never forgive him for that.

Support.

Don't ever come at me again talking about how we would be better off with Vitter.
I won't as long as you stop making shite up about me.
quote:
You don't know.
I'm basing it on evidence of his stated conservative positions and I supported those conservative positions.
You're the one that voted against them by voting against the candidate.
So why are you angry over me thinking you're not a conservative at all when you actually voted for a liberal?

You damn well thought we would have been better off under Jindal.
Never said that. Stop making shite up. It's a real bad habit for you.

On this, we actually agree.

Jindal never raised taxes 1.2 Billion dollars when the state economy was struggling and we were pushed into a recession.
Jindsl didn't expand Medicaid either leading to millions of dollars in payouts to unqualified folks.
But if you think JBE can run against Jindal again then you are mistaken. He has his own record now and he's vulnerable.

Damn. This actually surprises me. Louisiana democrats are generally more moderate -- they aren't your west coast lunatic progressive types. JBE isn't a progressive, so I would have expected his popularity here to be almost unanimous among the Dems.
That really does spell trouble for him if he can't even rally his base.
