I normally enjoy your thought provoking threads even if I disagree with some of your points.

But that was a big pile of dumb.

Your title doesn't even match your post. Animosity towards government works is about the job protections they have that discourage efficiency (or at least do not particularly reward it).

Your post was about the economic benefit of private vs public sector jobs. Which is just dumb. You cannot build an economy off of public sector jobs. Regionally you might (like you say, in rural areas) but that is still a net loss for the state.

Teachers might be an exception because they (at least in theory) make the workforce more efficient by producing more educated workers.

I respect job protections because I admittedly look out for the worker more often. However, I never meant to suggest they shouldn't be productive. Lazy workers come in all forms. Some companies are more strict, but do you really believe all of them are. Especially retail, food service, grocery, etc.

I completely agree you need private industry to keep any country ( in our case, individual states) to function properly. My example for the rural economy was to demonstrate how many regions of the country rely solely on those jobs, not that they are more productive for the country at large. It was not my intent to confuse.

I work for Apple and deal with Atlanta Public Schools and many other public systems a lot.

Holy hell shitfire.

So much fricking waste. And massive arrogance because there is no accountability and they are virtually untouchable. There is no incentive or even expectation of performance other than to show up and be present.

Those people live in an alternate reality.
