What kind of BMX bike for your son?

Santa needs to bring a new BMX (20") bike this year. Back in my day it was Mongoose, Redline, Haro and GT. Are those still the go to brands? Do not need a $300 bike though.

Just went through the same process. Looked at a ton of brands but settled on a Fuji brand 20” Rookie that my local bike shop had on sale for $200. Much better quality than any of the big box store bikes.

Go to a local bike shop. You can get a good bike, support local business, and the bike will last.

Hutch, but you can’t afford it.

Haro and GT are still legit. Mongoose and Redline are crap now, Walmart bikes.
Other good BMX bike brands are Eastern, Fit, WeThePeople, Stolen, and Hoffman.
You should be able to get an entry level bike around $250.
My kid's got an Eastern and I ride an old school Haro. Both are solid and a lot of fun at skate parks.
Stay away from Walmart bikes, they're only $90 but total garbage.

Get him a Wal-Mart huffy. It will last with the way kids use bikes these days. It’s not like the good old days where you built ramps and raced without a helmet or shoes on.

Kuwahara. Damn I miss those ole Bmx days.

If he is just a kid those brands will be fine (mongoose is the worst nowadays, pretty much the same as Walmart)
If he is going to be doing tricks or racing I would get him a better one

I agree with MojoGuyPan.
Any of the Fits and other similar (street) bikes will hold to up for jumping curbs and stuff around the neighborhood.

BTW - I loved Rad.
I was a Mongoose kid back in the 80s, but they do not seem the same now. GT and Redline being the other big ones in the bike rack.
Forgot about Hutch, there was one kid in school that had one.

You confused GT and Redline. Haro and Redline are still good BMX bikes.
Mongoose and GT are both box store brands.
