Jon “Bones” Jones cleared to fight

Odds he gets suspend again before the fight?? 3/1?
quote:
It's officially official ... Jon Jones has been cleared to make his return at UFC 232 at the end of the month ... after the California State Athletic Commission removed Bones from their suspended fighters list.
quote:
Jones was suspended by USADA for 15 months after failing a drug test collected prior to his '17 fight with Daniel Cormier. In addition to the suspension, he had his license revoked in Cali, and was put on a list banning him from competing. Bones served his suspension ... but still had to go before the CSAC so he could get cleared to fight. That's because even though Jones' upcoming fight at UFC 232 ins't in California (it's in Vegas) ... Nevada likely wouldn't license JJ if he was on the suspended fighters list in another state. So, Jones went before the California commission this morning ... and the board unanimously voted 6-0 to grant a temporary license to compete, and take him off the list -- clearing Jon to fight on December 29th against Alexander Gustaffson. Jones has a message for the commission ... "make sure you guys watch."

Morale of the Bones story:
It’s acceptable to cheat as long as you are willing to be a snitch once you are caught

The only interesting fight left at 205.

unpopular opinion: using steroids isnt cheating
why? because there are rules for using them. If you know what the consequences are and are willing to take on those consequences, then go for it. In football, you get suspended for 4 games, in fighting you get suspended for a few months. If you are willing to take on those suspensions and acknowledge that you used steroids, then do it. Not everyone is willing to do it, but if i was a linebacker or a fighter that wasnt all that great but wanted to get another contract, id do some PED's to get better and get another contract to make some more money

yes it is. It’s against the rules and provides an advantage

This x1000. He’s a POS cheat and UFC used usada to get him off the hook. The appearance of usada trying to clean up the sport was destroyed when they gave him time served.

no its not. the rule is if you do them and get caught, you serve a suspension. if youre okay with that, then whats the big deal

So if there are consequences for an action, that action cannot be considered cheating? Is that your stance?

but only if youre willing to accept those consequences as part of the deal. If you think however long of a suspension you get is worth it to get the extra contract, i have no problem with it
Now if you take this same logic and apply it to something like murder and other real crimes, then it gets murky

Blame the nanny-state federal government for the bad wrap anabolic steroids receive. The stuff should be legal for anyone to purchase and banning "pro-hormones" only doubled down on their stupidity.

So if someone steals from a store, get arrested and pleads quilty, you wouldn’t call them a thief
Same for if someone cheats on a exam, are they not a cheater ?

If they stealing knowing what the consequences are going to be and think its worth it, id still call them a thief, but i wouldnt call them a criminal
Id call a steroid user a steroid user, but not a cheat

Some people naturally have higher testosterone levels. How is supplementing to get to those levels different from getting Lasik surgery?

tough crowd
point is its not against the rules to use steroids. the rule is that if you use them, you get suspended for a little. if you couldnt use them at all, you would be banned from playing

I see your point but the problem lies with what is considered "normal". Average visual acuity is 20/20 and is the same for all people no matter the level of physical ability. The normal testosterone range in males is about 270 to 1070 ng/dL which is a fairly substantial variance. Where would the low level mark be set for athletes to get approved for TRT? What would you do if the athlete naturally had a level that exceeds the "normal" range? Should all athletes be tested regularly to maintain numbers close to the average level of 679 ng/dL even if that means chemically lowering the testosterone levels of the individuals with naturally higher testosterone?
