Not sure about LSU backrooms, but most schools have billionaire/multi-millionaire boosters who have quite a bit of say on things. (And often don't have a CLUE about college football - but are certain that they do)

I wish that I had FU money and had clout at LSU. Joe Alleva would not be employed. But I don’t have that kind of influence. I have learned that ugly Mean spirited men can get beautiful ladies just by having money and taking trips around the world. The dollar can buy anything.

... but who empowered Alleva to take control in football matters?
It might be an absolute mess behind the scenes.
