I have a lifestraw, shotgun, and can start a fire. Me and Mine are going to be just fine.

I've seen this statement posed several times and we are doing nothing to fix it.

We need to stop focusing on a wall and worry about infrastructure.

The issue I see is trying to make it that far while avoiding population centers. Also roads will be choked up with vehicles that won’t run due to EMP

hence 4-wheel drive. And no, this is no mall crawler.

Capt. if EMPs, are part of the equation, your 4WD will need to be pre 1964, or it ain't going nowhere. Any automotive ignition system without points and condensers will be rendered useless.

EMPs will fry all electronic ignitions. No cell phones, no gps, no fuel available at any service station that uses digital/computerized gas pumps to dispense fuel. No ATMs nor Banks to with draw funds.

10 days here.

Stored. Option to bump water to 14-16.

I work in an energy generation field.

The backlog to replace the massive step transformers is ridiculously long.

Measures are being taken now to reduce the effects from an emp type situation.

Our local area would be ok power wise I think. Transmission would be very problematic depending where and what would be hit.

As did I. Retired Florida Power & light 30yrs. Just In Time Delivery is what fricked us here, plus Westinghouse, contracting manufacturing of transformers to China

Just In Time Delivery, was/is a plan that saved FPL tax dollars on tangible property, rather than the company warehousing million dollar transmission TXs and being taxed by the state. The promise/contract was, there would be TXs available warehoused and delivered just in time to avoid prolonged outages.

I've been prepped for a decade. Not only for myself, but for my entire extended family and a few friends.

Have a good network of others that are prepared as well.

Ya mean they were able to fool most of the people?

Yes.

Most of the people at that time had no real clue as to what radiation could or could not do, how long it lasted, etc. There were also probably many who willingly believed because of the aforementioned need for many to feel they have some level of control.

Alright.. just pretend for a moment I don’t know anything about the systems that run electric generation facilities.

Why in the world do the systems have to be connected to the internet?? Why not keep the systems that actually control the plant on intranet only? If you need internet for communications, transfer of data, porn at break, etc. have a separate system for that. Not connected to the wired operating system.

You would need a six month fuel supply for the generator.

Without electricity there would be starvation and unbelievable death by disease. We have forgotten and quit practicing basic hygiene. See San Francisco.

I'd just like to go on record as saying I have nothing. No food, no water, no guns, no ammo, no extra gas, no women, no booze, no cigarettes, hardly even shelter enough for just me.
