1.)Both had successful interim coaching stints to audition for the job.
Offensive coordinator vs. Recruiting coordinator.
Young mind with less experience vs. Old guard with decades of experience
2.) Or Is Ryan Day's hire more similar to if Dave Aranda was promoted to head coach?

6-2, 0 points at home vs Bama, and throwing a Sugar Bowl down the drain is successful?

Both are big time programs that hired from within.
Anyone surprised OSU did not have a national search?

No one knows if Aranda is head coaching material.
It takes a different skill set to be an head coach. It's less about being guru on side of the ball or the other and more about organizational, management and operational skills. (Obviously coupled with a good football mind.)
Even though many laugh as O being a slick salesman, there is an element of sales to being a head coach, like being a closer in recruiting.

Ryan Day is the new Tom Herman. The same clowns that wanted Day were the ones that said Herman could walk on water.
Day is untested. AND, was it Day or Kevin Wilson who revamped the OSU offense? My vote is Wilson.

situations were different at OSU than they were here.
Urban knew he was close to done, so he groomed his replacement. i think Herman was going to be the guy, but he left before Urban was ready to hang it up.
Day:
Chip Kelly was his OC in college
worked under Meyer for a year at Florida, and a coupe years now at OSU.
Worked under Addazio at a couple stops.
Worked under Chip Kelly at a couple stops
He’s been a WR coach, a QB coach, and an OC.
compared to O.
yes he’s been in coaching a lot longer.
but if you follow his resume, he’s been a DL coach.
Ole Miss gave him a HC gig, but other than that, he’s never “climbed the ladder”. He’s always been a DL coach.

Ryan Day was the co-OC/QB coach in 2017 and the full OC in 2018
2017
-JT Barrett after two failed previous years, threw for 3050 yards and 35 TDs 9 int, and ran for 800 and 12 TDs. Completed 65% of his passes
-true freshman backup QB threw for 565 yards and 4 TDs saving the day vs the #1 pass defense and top 5 pass defense in every major passing category. Completed 70% of his passes
-True freshman RB ran for 1400 yards at 7.2 ypc
2018
-First year starter threw for 4580 yards and 47 TDs 7 int, with 122 on the ground and 4 more TDs. Completed 70% of his passes
-two RBs with a shite tastic OL, ran for a combined 1890 yards and 14 TDs.
Yes, I would take Day in a fricking heartbeat and pair him with Aranda.
