.45 ACP is subsonic even in a carbine barrel, if you stick to 230 gr bullets. But you'll need wipes to keep it really quiet, since it requires such a large hole thru the baffles. l60 gr loads in 9mm have the same velocities as the .45.

I just posted those videos so the OP could get an idea of the sound.
Obviously, there is a ton of work reloading or not to make the system work properly.
