If that is true doesn't it mean LSU is out of a NY6 then? Clemson will be in the playoffs. Doesn't that mean Pitt would take our spot in the either the Fiesta or Peach just like Washington going to Rose?

You did. P5 champions qualify, they just aren’t tied to a specific bowl since the Orange is hosting a semifinal.

ACC Bowl Ties, Affiliations
Notre Dame is eligible for any ACC bowl tie-in as long as it’s within one game of the team eligible for the slot.

Again, normally the top available ACC team goes to the Orange Bowl, but there’s no direct tie-in this year since it’s a College Football Playoff semifinal.

1. College Football Playoff Semifinal: If Selected

2. Camping World Bowl vs. Big 12

First Tier

– Citrus Bowl (if top possible team is higher-ranked than SEC or Big Ten team) vs. SEC or Big Ten
– Belk Bowl vs. SEC
– Hyundai Sun Bowl vs. Pac-12
– New Era Pinstripe Bowl vs. Big Ten
– Franklin American Mortgage Music City vs. SEC OR
– TaxSlayer Bowl vs. SEC

– ACC and Big Ten combine in the Music City and TaxSlayer, with each getting three appearances in six years. The ACC played in the Music City in 2015 and the TaxSlayer in 2016 and 2017. It’s almost certainly going to be in the Music City, but can still play in the TaxSlayer.

Second Tier

– Walk-On’s Independence Bowl vs. SEC
– Military Bowl vs. American Athletic
– Quick Lane Bowl vs. Big Ten
– St. Petersburg Bowl
Conditional if American Athletic or Conference USA can’t fill the spot.
– Birmingham Bowl
Conditional if American Athletic or SEC can’t fill the spot.

So if OSU wins, we are in Peach/Fiesta?

Also, is there a lean one way or the other for us?

Well, the good thing is Clemson is already up 2 TDs early against Pitt and OSU is looking strong against NW.

Here's hoping for two, low-stress blow-outs. We deserve it after last week!

No. I don't believe it works that way. Although I was wrong about the ACC before.

Pitt and Northwestern are two sorry arse teams that have zero shot at winning tonight.

Other stuff I've read seems to clearly suggest that LSU is in if both Clemson and OSU win. It doesn't look like the ACC runner up takes the Fiesta or Peach spot (replacement for Orange).

So far it looks like both Clemson and OSU should win.

You realize LSU has like a 95% chance of making a NY6 game, right?

Here is how the NY6 is going to break down.
So Big 12 automatically gets a spot in the Sugar? Lol that’s BS Texas doesn’t deserve it.

Doubt they will, I think the OP is wrong. West Virginia who beat Texas, will likely face UGA in the Sugar.

Did you not read one of the first lines of the thread where I said it could be WVU instead of Texas?

Winner of ACC is automatic to NY6

Basically, if there is an upset in either game tonight, LSU is out.

But you did good work other than the Pitt thing (won’t matter cause Pitt won’t win anyway)...I think Northwestern is the chance for upset tonight

It has to be either Texas or West Virginia.

Yep. I was playing this projection game sitting outside drinking last weekend. It was much more difficult then. I must have misread something. Probably saw that they had no tie in to Orange, and just took that to mean they weren't tied at all.
