And let's not forget that Fournette had a pretty substantial insurance policy going into his junior year, and he STILL wouldn't play the bowl game.

This will be the future of CFB. Players will start sitting out the latter part of a season if the team has no shot at CFP or no shot at a winning season. Get ready for more “nagging”, undisclosed injuries to keep them out but they will be ready for the combine.

NFL players routinely play hard when they are up for a big contract and then taper off once paid. This is simply the nature of our current culture.

For a vast majority of NFL players there is no long term loyalty to the team, it is simply a business and they are happy to play for whoever pays the bills. This is not a criticism, just the way it is. However, this is taking hold in CFB as well as more and more players make their “business” decisions about where to play and also when to sit out.

I really think this is a personal decision as much as I hate it. Kids that are in their position do need to look out for themselves at this point. They play these bowl games for extra practice time and as a reward for their season. These guys don’t need a bunch of video games or new shoes, etc because they need to focus on their job - performing their best at the combine. They are transitioning into real life at this point.

Looks like Jacksonville getting bent over on that deal, while the Saints got the steal of the draft!

He was also dealing with an injury that may have held the team back. It appeared to in the UF game

That's right, you went to school to get a degree... And you had to FINISH school, didn't you?

Well the NFL doesn't require the player to finish school.
