Used golf clubs

I was looking at some used golf clubs. Wanted to see what y’all think of these. They seem like a really nice set from about 10 years ago but I don’t know anything about clubs. Only play 3-4 times a year. Would like to play more but difficult to get time. Not really interested in breaking the bank on a new set since I don’t play that often.
Titleist AP2 Forged Irons These are a set of RH 2008 Titleist AP-2 irons that were custom made by Titleist which is why each club has a the set serial number (see pictures)
The shafts are S300 True Temper Dynamic Gold High Launch. Stiff.
The lie is 1 degree upright and the shafts are 1/4" longer.
No alterations have been made other than re-gripping. Present grips are ok, but they are about due to be redone.
There is NO bag chatter since the heads are covered except when making the shot!
&
Ping G10 21* Hybrid with a PROFORCE V2 High Launch Regular Shaft and original Ping headcover.
Ping G10 17* 4 wood with a PROFORCE V2 High Launch Regular Shaft and original Ping headcover.
&
Cobra 9* driver with a PROFORCE V2 HL Regular Shaft and original Cobra Speed LD headcover.
&
Callaway Wedges: 54* 12 R with TT Gold Wedge flex and Callaway grip. 54CC
60* 13 R with TT Gold Wedge flex and Callaway grip. 60CC
&
Taylor Made 9.5* Superfast Driver with a Matrix Ozik Xcon 4.8 Stiff flex Shaft and original headcover.

I am sure they are great clubs, but since you said you don't play but a couple times a year I would be weary of buying forged clubs. They tend to be a little less forgiving than some other options out there.

What do you normally shoot? How well do you hit the ball?
Could be a great set of clubs but maybe not for you - need more info.

Wary, not weary.
And I agree with your comment.

I usually aim for bogey golf. Not too bad tee to green (or around green). Lose a lot of strokes on short game. My irons are pretty bad though (the clubs not hitting them) . Hand me down set probably from 90s. Anything would be an upgrade

FORGED has nothing to do with how easy they are to hit. It is the process in how they are made. That being said an AP2 is geared for more of a single digit handicap. There are plenty of clubs either forged or cast that are easier to hit. It is a nice iron though.

I've been looking at clubs geared to the 10-15 Hcp range.
A bit of forgiveness. A bit of workability.
Srixon Z 585
Callaway Rogue Pro
Taylormade P790 / M3
Mizuno JPX 919/ 900
Titleist AP3
Wilson Staff C300
Ping G400/ i500

AP3 and Rogue Pro are good in that range

Yes, but traditionally, forged aren't as forgiving as cast.
OP, if you can get for a good deal, pull the trigger. Consider this though, anything will be an upgrade from what you're playing. So sense paying an arm and a leg for this set up.

No shite, but a lot of game improvement irons like PXG 0311 P, XF, Titleist AP3, Callaway Rogue Pro etc are forged, with clubs nowadays the only forged irons that aren’t geared towards a specific golfer are blades, which are usually for posers.

No AP1 or MP2? Just curious as I've been looking too and that's the direction I'm leaning.

That is like asking a total stranger , " Will I like sushi?"
Only way to find out is eat some!

Game improvement clubs (10-20 Hcp):
TaylorMade M4 Irons (the M4 is a better version of the M2, but it's mostly a looks issue, imo)
Titleist 718 AP1
Callaway Rogue Irons
Ping G400
Game enhancement clubs (5-10 Hcp):
TaylorMade P790
Titleist 718 T-MB
Titlist 718 AP3
Mizuno MP18 MMC
Ping i200
TaylorMade M3
Players Irons (5 hcp and lower):
Mizuno MP 18
Titleist 718 MB
Titleist 718 CB
Callaway Rogue Pro Irons
TaylorMade P770
Titleist 718 AP2 Irons
Mizuno MP18 SC Irons
There's nothing wrong with any of these clubs.
It'll mostly boil down to personal preference.
I've just been hanging around a 10Hcp for years with some cheap, early 2000-era clubs.
So, I'm mostly looking at the 5-10 Hcp clubs. A balance between forgiveness and work-ability.

I was in the same boat and went back and forth in categories. I found the Srixons to be the best of both worlds. I have the 565s and love them.

I think I want to go somewhere and hit some balls and make up my mind there.
But trying and deciding between 10 sets of clubs is a bit of a hill to climb.

Mizuno JPX 919/ 900
Titleist AP3

That's exactly what my list looked like a year ago. We eliminated a few sets really quickly as I am a very high ball hitter. I got it down to the JPX and Srixon w/ project X 6.0 shafts fairly quickly.
It all about what you are looking for and what your natural swing does.

Found this list. Pretty cool.
Shows all clubs in a recommended handicap range for comparison.
It's a bit older. And I'm not sure I agree with the ranges. But it's better than just throwing shite at the wall.

quote:High ball flight when I hit 100%. But I usually swing 90% to be more accurate. So, probably average flight.

Slight fade on mid-long irons. Like a 0.5-1 green width.
And it's been pissing me off when I play that and hit it straight.
Short irons are usually 1/4 green left or right.
I think my list is also in order.
I might like the AP3 or JPX. But I hear GREAT things about the z585 and rogue pro.

Damn, we have nearly the same style game.
My only draw back on the AP3s were the price, and the feel was a little off. I can't explain it.
The Rogue pros replace the Apex pros which is what I had before. I had lost all confidence in them.
The Zunos and Srixons felt like butter. In the end, the number on the Srixons were slightly better for me. Also, at that moment, Srixon was offering free upgrades on custom work, grips, and shafts. I got the MCC+4s grips, PX 6.0 +1 2*up all for free. It was a no brainier after I found that out. If Zuno had the same thing offered, I would've bought them with no regrets.
good luck If you're ever on my side of the world, hit me up and we can go ball.
