Try to export to fdxz
Can't open the program so I can't export to anything. And I've used Cookin' which is OK but not nearly as powerful as LC.

I feel like I'm on that commercial where I can't sit on the furniture because "it's not hooked up".

in the bottom left corner (assuming this is a PC), right click the flag and select "run" and type "cmd" without the quotes, and you will be at a black box, command prompt.

type cd\ and hit enter then type dir /s *.FDX and see if it finds some files.

I don't export to fdx format that often. The last time I did was over a year ago. I know where those files are. I might be able to open those with Cookin' software, but they want me to open an account (which I assume I'd have to pay for).

That's sucks. I'd be pretty pissed.

The latest is that I have recovered all the recipes!

But unfortunately not the software, which I really liked. Apparently the company and program are gone for good.

Right now, I have the recipes in an unorganized situation in MasterCook 14. I had to pay MasterCook $17.50 to convert the files from a proprietary Living Cookbook backup format into MasterCook format.

I can't stand MasterCook, but at least I've got the recipes back.

Anybody have a favorite digital recipe management recommendation?

Make hard copies on index cards as a super backup

Stadium Rat been where you are before. One suggestion: have you ever used Microsoft Notebook it does a decent file with pics. Also maybe recipe keeper

Do you mean OneNote? I have that and it is a wonderful program, but I wouldn't want to use it for recipes. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

The number one feature I'm looking for is ease of capturing recipes. Living Cookbook did this magnificently. You'd highlight the text from whatever source - web, Word, whatever. Then copy. LC had a space where you'd paste the text, then you could highlight each component of the recipe - title, ingredients, comments, directions, source, yeild, etc. Boom you're done.

I've only found 2 apps that replicate this. One is an expensive suscription app and the other is rather old technology lacking other important features.

Rat - I've been using Paprika Recipe Manager (now Version 3) for about four years and through one major update. I like that it provides for easy recipe capture from websites, syncs across my computers and phones, and allows for easy scaling. It's a little pricey but I feel I've gotten good value from the program.

I have tried Paprika. I may go back to that now, I don't know.

Anothe +1 for paprika.

I use the iPhone app and can’t imagine wanting to use a different software.

I use ChefTap...it’s great at capturing recipes from websites. To store the first 100 recipes is free. Over that is the Pro with a yearly fee of $16? for unlimited. Hope that helps.

Google drive is the answer. All of these independent app/software companies could go out of business at any time.
